Answer strangely yes I recently started a new profile on battlefield 2 and i have to say i now prefer to use the svd I do think it is now the best in the game the only draw back is that if you go toe to toe with a sniper at lomg range with any other rifles youl lose (epcept the type thing whatever who uses that?) any 1 agree? L8ers

I like the type 88, but the l96 is still my most used sniper. On karkand, though, the svd is a good choice (even though sniping on karkand is the most annoying and selfish thing you can do because you're doing absolutely nothing for you team)

Well you may have gussed from my name but I do like the SVD. But your choice of rifle depends on many things (or should ! lol ). For instance map, where you are spawning and what you are trying to achieve. The SVD is much better for attacking due to the large mag size and the fire rate (its often good to have a semi-auto), whereas for defending and supperssion the bolt actions are probably better due to the much higher accuracy over a long range as well as higher damage. You do also need to take into account your own skill , of course, because a SVD or T-88 is better for "quick-reaction-kills" (a guy pops out and gets one in the head) due to the fire rate and clip size (if you miss its no big deal cuz another bullet will be in the air very shortly). However if you are accurate and can get a near-guaranteed headshot every thime then the bolt actions steal the show due to their high accuracy (particularly the "brittish" unlockable one that isnt the .50 Barrett) Oh and just thought Id mention- TK with claymores are a real pain!

Yeah the L96 does steal the show...

I like the SVD simply because of its coolness factor, it was sweet in BfV. It's a bit toned-down in BF2, but once you get the hang of using it it's quite an effective sniper rifle.

Arrrr! However if we are going for coolness only then I have to go for the PSG-1 (SVD_Sniper rolls of the tounge better then PSG-1_Sniper!). Besides Sniper Wolf uses it which makes it even cooler.

i think the SVD sucks! as does the m95 because the lines are too thick to allow you to take a good shot, but the l96 and t-88 are brilliant because of their uber-thin lines

In Game- SVD, T-88, M95 suck In Real Life- SVD is not bad, but less accurate, more for support style sniping (firing at people as your squad advances) T-88 I don't know. M95 is freakin awsome! AM snipers 4 life. If it hits a person, the bullet goes right through and tears a 2 inch hole in the body!!!!! shoots through car engines too.

Oh BTW, the barret .50 "light fifty" is not an anti-personnel weapon. It is in fact an anti-material rifle. Its against the geneva convetion to shoot someone with it. Its designed to take out car engines and the such. This fact actually cause the Marines in the first gulf war a lot of problems - they were supposed to "field test" the gun however the SAS and Delta were had laser spotted so may targets that there was little left for the USMC to try it out on. But in BF2 its a suky gun. You cant hit anything with it. Crosshairs are too thick and it has tooo much natural inaccuracy. But if forced to answer "is SVD good?" with a yes or no, then its a "yes" from me.
