I just picked up a copy of this game. Its awesome. I downloaded the 1.03 patch too. What settings should I run the game on for the best performance with my current CPU set up? 1.8GHz Intel P4 1.0GB RAM XTASY ATI 9600 256MB video card Its not the greatest computer but its all I got. I know you guys get this question all the time and I appreciate the help.
You are going to be running about mid range on your settings. Maybe a little lower do to Processor.
HaupiaWhat resolution should I run?
I think your best bet would be 800x600x16 for best playable results. You may get by with 1024x768, but I think your framerate will suffer.
I use 800x600x16 with my rig (in sig below) with most of my settings on medium, (and a few on high) max view distance, no aa/af and dynamic shadows off.
Not to bash the author or anything but why do people always come in here asking questions like that? Why don't you just try some settings and actually figure it out for yourself? Learning thru experience is not a bad thing.
Because that is what FORUMS are for. To ask questions ....and gain Insight.
I understand that but everyday someone asks that same question. People could try it out and then if they're having problems ask questions. I dunno just my opinion.
well .. you don't have to anwer, nor read it if you wish ... That is the good thing about forums. There is a reply button YOU have to push to reply. Don't push the button and it becomes someone else's resposibility. :D or you could be helpful and give them a link to where they can find the answer. if you know the question has been asked you must have seen the answer somewhere.
You may need to turn it all down with your setting. I have two rigs, and your is like my old one: 1.9 P4, but with the Nvidea 5700 Ultra card. I pretty much needed to turn down all the quality and detail of the graphics, but it still looks great and plays fine at 1024x768. You might want to try the mod where you change the BF2 executable name so it runs in DX8... but as was pointed out, theres' no harm taking 2-3 minutes to try a few settings. Start with everything turned down, and crank up the quality a little with each try, until the frame rate gets way to pokey. My newer system (P4 550 - 925X - 1GB - ATI X800XT 256mb) rocks, until I turn on anti-aliasing...
