'[77Twisted']are you sure your holding down the talk key instead of pressing it once.

i figured it out now. you have to join a squad/clan before you can use mic. i thought you could talk to everyone at all times, but thats not the case. thx for the insight gusy. later

"[SYN hydraSlav"]From what i know, you will hear only the people in your squad, and your commander. Check if the people in your squad have the VoIP enabled.[/quote]

ObliviousYou only hear your specific squad, and I believe the Commander if he wants to speak to your squad.

You press the SQUAD key (usually caps lock) and click on the JOIN button of your selected squad.

The entire point of the VOIP in BF2 is, it is squad based. The commander can talk to everyone OR just the squad leaders if he chooses. The squad leader can talk to his squad OR the Commander. The members of the squad can only talk to the other member of the squad (including the squad leader of course). Now I can tell immediately that you have never used any form of voice comm in BF1942. With just 13 of us in a clan and using Teamspeak if it is set for everybody to hear everybody else it is chaos, ppl calling for help, commanders giving orders, ppl reporting troop movements etc, and then the general chatter. Everybody is always saying "please repeat" and "WHAT!" and so on, and that's with a reasonably discplined group of players. So we set up whisper keys so we can just talk in our squad and the squad leaders to the commander, exactly the way it is set up in BF2 in fact. That's one thing they got exactly right. Public servers with everybody talking to everybody else would be nightmareish and a waste of time.

I tried the VoIP, and i found the quality wasn't as good as team speak. plus, I really don't relish the idea of talking to pubbies. if there is someone i want to talk to, i just have them come on my TS. sounds alot better, and with voice activation set correctly, no need to push a another button to talk. Gunny.

Yeah, my clan use Team Speak and it works great. I like being able to communicate verbally with squad members that aren't pubes
