After a LONG absence from playing BF2 (since before Spec Forces was released) and a few patches in between I have a couple of observations I woudl like to share.
1 - Teamwork has practically disappeared. I am not a clanner but when I started everyone used the voice com and people would actually spawn on the their squad leaders and try to take flags. Now everyone is medics, spamming med packs, racing to victims and not even trying to play. I could understand if this was a good way to earn points but even in a lopsided battle a good squad can still earn 30+ team points by taking flags and 20+ kills each in just general combat. That is a good 70 pts vs the 30-40 you may get being a medic. Heli/Jet whoring is about as bad as used to be.
2 - Infantry Gameplay seems to have improved. I have not checked the patch notes but it looks like they gimped bunny hopping but the diving roll shot still seems way too accurate. All in all, I am actually more pleased in the way weapons seem to be handling.
3 - Aerial I am largely ambivalent about. I have read that AA missiles have been approved but Helis are still far too resistant to AA guns and resistant to each others guns. A good rule of thumb is that by the time a gun overheats from continuous firing a heli shoudl be hitting 20% health as it is now they are at 50-60.
4 - Ranks and awards are much better. Giving more unlocks at lower ranks was nice since anything past Lieutenant is still passed what most folks can accomplish and they changed a lot of the ridiculous time requirements. I still think there should be something special for the people that achieve the highest ranks and earn the highest rewards (Like earning the Navy Cross giving you a 0.25% multiplier on your global score.)
6 - Special Forces Expansion Pack is awesome. It is a shame that no one plays more of the Night missions but the emphasis on troop action rocks. I find myself missing my Zip Line and grapplign hook in regular games.
7 - Euro Force has been a waste of $10. I cannot find hardly any servers playing their maps so I really can't say anythign else about it.
8 - Armored Fury is great. What SF did for troops this has been great for armor. Every game I have played of it has been fast and fun. Smashing someone with a Semi, maximun overdrive style, was very carthatic.
9 - Jerka$$es are still everywhere but have changed their colors. While TKers are almost extinct the reflex punishers seem to be the norm. Folks who run into grenades, accidental roadkills, splash damage no one forgives the first offense anymore. The punish griefers are still out there running into claymores on FF servers and driving vehicles under your treads but they are thankfully rare too. As a side story I had a guy in my own squad run after a grenade I threw just so he could punish me and send my points into 2nd place behind him.
10 - I suck bad and need to play more. I am dying way more than I remember and I don't like it.
Addendum: I have been long out of the loop and I don't know the details about any of the patch changes and these are merely fresh perspectives on an old habit. Please, keep this in mind before accusing me of n00bery.
I remeber in the Bf2 demo, in a full 40 player server, nobody was on the carrier AT ALL, they were all fighting on the frontlines, instead of planecamping. So I see what you mean by point 1.

That's it. I'm getting Armoured Fury.
What the hell? I think a mod has gone mad and has edited our posts, because that is NOT what i posted
Since my post has been deleted, even though it shouldn't have been edited in the first place:
I said that during the early days of the demo, on a full 40 player server everyone was fighting on the frontlines, and the carrier was empty. Nowadays all you ses are planecampers, so I certainly agree with point 1

Its not mod's editing posts.
Unfortunatly, since some work was done to the servers/ database, its having a little fritz.
The management are aware, and are trying to fix the problem.
Posts are just randomly being swapped around as well as content.
