psyichicIve already modified my Xfire to accept the new modification. You need to get the game log from the Xfire installed look for BF2 and then rename the exe path in Xfire from BF2 to whatever you have done. Its in your Xfile folder under Xfire_games config file. Just open that and search for BF2
EDIT: The one that is the modified game is the file named "one" which is from the original game name and "one" is from my modified game name.
Nice find, I knew you could do that:beer:.
Well I got Bf2 again and hopfully this will help, I am not getting rid of it again.
Do you loose any functionality of xfire at all when you change the .ini file?
Not that ive seen. Really its just telling Xfire to display that you are playing BF2 when the BF2*whatever you renamed*.exe instead of just the BF2.exe so really its just saying look for this name instead of that name kinda thing and then all of the other little commands are routed to use the specified exe within the xfire games file so really its nothing that changes anything and from the pictures there really is no diffrenmce except for the one that "reduces" quality gives better performance even though it really isnt reducing any visual quality that we are capable of seeing.
Well I've got it all working and it seems like everything is working as it should. Do you think we'll have to change it back to the original when the 1.03 update comes out?
psyichicHere are two screenies. They are taken with Fraps so they are to large to use normal hosting so i decided to winrar them and then rename them. Try and guess which one is using the lag reducing system and which one isnt. They are name Which and one the pictures themselves. Once i figure out how to compress the images them I will put a side by side comparison up for you but so far just tell me if you can ID which one it is.
FYI they have been taken on idenctical settings that being everything on medium. I experience a 10-15 FPS increase using the new way.
Nice piccies, however don't compress them, any differences that are very small will be lost due to the compression, the download host is a bit slow but fine otherwise. The other thing is, they are the wrong type of pictures. The differences are most likely to be seen in Anisotropic Filtering which doesn't affect objects over a certain distance away (to do with the LOD settings). The ideal picture is ground level along a flat surface like a concrete floor or along a vertical wall, so look for minor changes on close large flat objects.

Yes I should think so, but you will be able to change it back after installing the patch.
Ohhh thanks AK sorry this is my first time doing this. Uhmmm give me a sec and ill see if it is reacting any diffrentley with those suggestions you gave me.
Ok I ran this and I was getting around 25-20 fps on medium before and now I get 45+fps on medium.
I relly whish EA would optmize the code though, we would not need to do stuff like this
well as said earlyer, those will lower end systems will notice more of an improvement
well ive noticed a good improvement on my 3500+, 6600gt, 1GB RAM, i cant really guess what type of increase i have had, but its noticeable
excellent find faction
Excellent! I'm seeing about 15-20 fps boost. Also I used to get really nasty jumpiness when I would whip around to look behind me, but now it's buttery smooth. I played for about 5 mins on a full server and I can't see any difference in graphics quality (maybe it's effects like smoke or particles quality? Who cares about those anyway)
Great post :bows:
