Howdy, That should run BF2 fine. There is a thread around here specifically about running BF2 on Windows 2000, and IIRC people have been running on 2000 with no problem. It's just not 'officially' supported. So if you have problems you will not be able to e-mail or call EA about the problem to get tech support is all. SATA drives still have an IDE controller in them. What you're taling about is the difference between PATA and SATA, Parallel and Serial ATA. Performance-wise, a year ago the difference wasn't all that huge, but the delta between the two is growing with time as SATA gets faster throughput upgrades and implements new features(such as NCQ).
I just want to make absoluely sure before I buy this game so. Will BF2 run on 2 GeForce 6800 GT's with SLI? I just want to check. It's the SLI thing I'm thinking of really. Anyone know?

I have 512 Ram 1.9ghz ati radeon 9550, everything maxed out except for antialiasing and the view is all the way low. Yet i over clocked it :)

I run a p4 3.0 w/ xfx 6800nu, 1 gig patriot ram. I have all settings on high except draw distance on med. & aa on 4x. VEEEEERRRRY smooth . I am thinking o fgetting ATI x800xl next. any thoughts?
