they should have realistice explosion of vehicles...say i ws to shoot the tail rooter of a hawk...then the hawk should spin out of control and if the piolt ejected he would die from the fall.so he would either die with the crash or wait for somebody to come and heal him (should be a 50-50 chance of dying or needing to get healed) that would be tight!!:smokin:

I agree. The physics for vehicles STILL don't feel right! If you hit a car with a rocket, it should go flipping and come to a skidding stop or something, not just stick where it is. That is, if it's moving. And planes still slowly float to the ground...

Exactly. The only signs you see of it blowing up is the explosion. There is no movement AT ALL. Car sits there Car is blown up That's it. I'd at least like to add 'Car is hit by missile and flips over into the middle. The game has ragdoll, I can't understand why it doesn't apply to the vehicles. It would add some spice to the game. And it'd make for more rare/memorable occasions.

Yes it would. Imagine firing a missile at a speeding Humvee, hit the ground behind it, and have it go flipping into enemy troops in front of it.

One other thing I noticed that goes along with this thread: in the intro, when the Chinese attacking the base get killed, they fall to the ground all radollish, but, and here's the thing that I wanted: so does THE WEAPON. I hate how when you kill an enemy, they "change clothes" and are just a bare-bones soldier, with no heltmet oin weapon or any accesories. Then that stupid little bag appears...why can't they have like FH does now? Actual weapon models that fall to the ground?

ea thought ragdoll would be enough thats why....they prb didnt want to puti n the extra effort...lazay asses somebody make a mod that does all this

I have a wonderous idea. why don't you all get together ....get some ideas down on paper. get the finantial backing and develop a game on your own, so filefront can open up a forums for it, and i can moderate for it ..and listen to the rest of the world whine about the physics of your game, and why the patch is crap, and what you should have done and so on.... but seriously. the physics could have been a little better. but you know what ? this isn't Bf42 it isn't blackhawkdown, it isn't sof/sof2, it isn't mobile forces. It is Bf2. It is what it is ....play the game for what it is and stop comparing it to other things .....at least until the mod tools come out. then make all your dreams come true.

yea seriously, u rant u rave. but yea i agree. they should of added ragdoll to the vehicles. like say ur in a plane and ur wing clips a tree or something, u shouldnt blow up but ur wing should fly off and u spin out of controll and u have a chaince to bail out. and yea i wanna see cars flying in the air and flipping when they blow up. also the car physics suck with turning and driving. the turing in the dunebuggy is soo fake and shit and it cant drive up a 5 foot hill? come on.

What Mr. Grim? You have trouble driving the dunebuggys up hills? Hmmm, seems like they go up hills ok to me. Tanks however seem to have somewhat of an aversion to hill climbing. MerrickDS, I think maybe you are a little overwhlemed with the EA/BF2 bs bashing that's been going on around here, hehe. And I don't blame you! I kind of feel like I'm in a minority around here since I don't go around bashing EA. But I think this is the right section of the forum for this kind of discussion. And I think it's mostly just a 'wishing out loud' kind of thing here. Nothing wrong with that. And once in a while there is nothing wrong with making comparisons. Even apples to oranges comparisons are ok on rare occasion. ;) It's hard but try to keep your chin and spirits up. We still :love1: you! acenumba3 that's putting it pretty damn harshly man. Lighten up a little will ya! I do agree it certainly would be nice to have better physics and more animations for the vehicles. Maybe like Mr. Whitlow said, ragdoll physics/animations for vehicles that get blown up. Perhaps in BF3?

Hmm, ragdoll physics aye? Did anybody have a think why they are called ragdoll physics? Well it's because they are applied to a jointed simulacrum of a human figure, like a, um, ragdoll, yes, that's the word I was looking for!

The physics, as applied to a moving object, are, well, moving object physics I guess. Now you might think it nitpicking but if you were to contact EA and ask them to apply ragdoll physics to cars they would scatch thier heads and think, wtf are they on about?

What you actually want is to apply the actions of a force (ie: explosive force, impact force etc) to every object (well every movable object anyway) in the game, such that they would react to the force as an object would in real life. Now I won't say that this is impossible, but there are some very large and powerful computers involved in calculating explposions and their effects on surrounding bodies, so maybe DICE tried this and decided that the load on the servers, which ppl are already claiming are to laggy with 64 players, would be to great. The bodies being seen flung about by explosions are obviously using a very simplified form of explosive acceleration, once the bodies are moving then the ragdoll physics are used to provide an imitation of a human body in flight.

Now applying the same explosive acceleration effect to vehicles may work, but you have to take into account the damage models of the vehicles. Once a vehicle has been hit by a rocket the undamaged model of the vehicle has to be instantly (or as quickly as possible) replaced by the damage model to provide a realistic effect of rocket hitting vehicle, then you have to apply the acceleration effect of the undamaged model, having been struck by a rocket, to the damage model, which of course has just been inserted into the game.

So I am not saying it's impossible, it's just not as simple as saying, why can't they apply these physics to the vehicles.

This implies that some of the vehicles should be made of multiple components that can be removed without destroying the whole model, or that the undamaged model should be replaced with a damage model in mid air, while flying, without causing any perceivable odd visual effects to ppl watching AND all without disturbing the pilot and/or passengers. I don't know of any game existing or planned that can do this, its a possibility for the future is all I can suggest.
