The is complete lack of it. Id love to see 2 different magnifications for the Abrams tank, including for thermal sights. You should also be able to switch between SABOT rounds for anti-tank fights, and HEAT rounds against everything else. The Squad Leaders NEED to have binoculars. That is realistic. There support gunners should have more than 1 smoke grenade. The medics should have more options than just shock-paddling people. I want to be able to apply bandages that show, etc Grenades should be able to be thrown further, and should be able to be thrown/rolled on the ground. Engineers should have to use more than 1 wrench to fix everything These are just few things I can think of at the moment

and surprisignly you didnt realize the BF series was never about realism? Oh BTW you can roll the grenades along the ground. Use your RMB. Many people agree squad leaders should get binoculars for the ease of spotting and calling for supplies and artillery but not for realisms sake. THere is a mod that allows tanks to swap between sheels I beleive its the mercenaries mod. Also balance is killed when you give the tanks enhanced optics becasue then they become fully automatic sniper rifles and with thermal scopes strike at karkand would be to easy for coalition.

Not to say those ideas arent good for perhaps a mod but you gotta rember this game is not designed to be realistic.

To save from spamming the other thread I would like to say if you want a flight sim get one and if you want a war sim get Operation flashpoint. Thats realism right there except for mabey the grenades but otherwise remeber its not made to be a sim it is arcadey for a reason :D

The details you speak of would be nice but then again they wouldnt. They are far to detailed for a game of this nature. I just want realistic damage and recoil. Like when you get lightly tapped by a turning tank you immediately die, or when you are on a hill and your commander drops supplies on the same hill and the supplies slowly slide down the hill and crush you. If there was one thing I would like them to fix tho... that they could easily... it woul dbe view distance. It should be twice what it is right now. Also, I have been sniped by jumping snipers. If that doesnt say it all I dont know what will.

besides most folks want a game they can quickly load up ,jump on line and play. I just want to have fun and if you want realism play Americas Army. Besides why does everything in games now have to be about realism. Eventually there will be no need to play because it will all be so real it might as well be real life and we allready have that. Games are about fun not realism (at least for me).

Agreed. YOu want die hard realism get VBS1. Its a military simulator made FOR the military. None of that AA stuff withj the fun missions it was designed for advanced tactical squad movement and training. It also has tanks with an expansion. (Its 140 bucks for the standalone game without expansions though so u better save up! ;) )

There should be a balance between realism and game. Applying bandages I think is not necessary as it's not a focal point for game animations. Binoculars should appear on 64 player maps only. I was screwing around with mods like Realism and Merc and suprizingly achieved balance for my SP game. Two things happened. 1. Balanced weapon choice for Kits (including AK47 for MEC and no more MP5/Bison) I was trying to find middle ground between more powerfull family of AK and more precise American counterparts. 2. For some reason, (as a result of mixing files between different mods) tanks and other vehicles do not appear as often as in original mod. Bots do not compete to get into the tank. Thus, I have prolonged firefights and occasional FPS dropping tank explosion. Now, what I think is most realistic thing should be done to the game is getting rid of those annoying name tags and nodimensional avatars.

but when all that is said, remember it's a computer game we're talking about. you can only do so much about realism and still preserve the gameplay.

Guess what, he is(was?) in the military and does work on the m1a1 tankswinkx.gif. I bet someone somewhere is working a realism mod or there is one relesed.
