I run on a broadband connection but recently my PING has gone through the roof. I was usually playing on about 100-250 PING but now im going up around the 500s or 600s. Its REALLY annoying because I kept getting kicked from servers for having such a High Ping. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on reducing my PING to a lower number.

Anyone got an idea on how to reduce the level of my ping?

Thanks, any comments would be appreciated.

Hi, I dont want to be rude and state the obvious, but there is no such thing as common knowledge on the internet. So ill assume you know nothing and start from there :P

Make sure you are not running any other programs that are using the internet. If possible limit it to BF2 and maybe some VOIP software. Close stuff like messengers and stop downloads.

Ask your ISP if there is a problem. Is there is ask them to fix it. Sound angry :P

General good health of you PC is always good so do a defrag and stuff. It may help slowdown but not really ping/lag issues.

If none of this works, you may have a program connecting to the net without you knowing about it - spyware/adwarey type thing. Double check your antivirus and try and remove it if there is something there.

If none of this helps, post back and Ill ty and think up some more stuff. Are you on a lan at all? Are you going through a router with another PC? Waht version of BF2 are you running?

Hi, thanks for posting.

I already know all that stuff, and as for your questions, here are my answers:

Are you on a lan at all? No

Are you going through a router with another PC? No

Waht version of BF2 are you running? The original version, 1.0. I've been very lazy to download the recent 1.41 patch. And Yes I know there isn't much servers to connect to AND I KNOW that I should download the new patch because there might be servers running that are closer to my location which would reduce ping/lag.

The patch could help, but is your ping on all your other games higher than normal too?

my guess would be since he is running the 1.0 patch is that he is playing on foreign servers which would explain why his ping is so high
