If you let it sit there it will eventually connect. The servers arn't down, they just seem extremely flooded.
Nothing works for me, it just sits there doing nothing. Had to restart my computer the first time to get out of it as it made my pc freeze :?. Any idea why the servers are not working?
saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame here. and I was really bored, I was in dire need of entertainment
Checked around many servers that are listed. Now one is online that I can see. If you can't log in to EA, no game today. Ea probably blown a fuse coz the whole EA site is down.
its ALL down? really. I was looking forward to some game today. I know that in the morning and mid afternoon EST it took a shitload of time to get your account thing connected, and BFHQ wouldn't work. I went and ate lunch and came back and it still wasnt connected. Some intern at ea screwed up and pushed the red button, is my thinkings.

been sat here 8 hours, i got the Spec forces today, installed it, took 1/2 hour to connect. got on a server and got message about 'unmodified components'. read up about that, uninstalled cleaned up registry and folders, reinstalled and been waiting another 1'2 hour to retrieve my account

Thinking about it.
Still down for me, too. Its the ACCOUNT servers having the problem. The GAME servers are just fine. I do see a few servers with people on them, so I guess it's not totally down. Maybe they are experiencing a Denial of Service attack at the ACCOUNT servers.
Since to play on-line, we have to get permission from "Big Brother" (the ACCOUNT server), if it is down, we are out of luck. So even if you know the location (IP number) of the GAME server, it will do you no good if the ACCOUNT server is down. There can be 1,000's of GAME servers, but if the single (or few) ACCOUNT servers are down, those GAME servers are no good.
Since they can't figure out how to copy protect their CD and game installations, they force you to log into an ACCOUNT server to help them authenticate your game copy. Sadly, the few cheaters and the lack of imagination on EA's part, is how we find ourselves dependent on a "Big Brother" ACCOUNT server. And, EA can control access to their games and force people out of playing older games in order to create demand for their newer games. Yes, a central ACCOUNT server helps with stats, too. But I'm sure most would rather play the game without stats rather than not play the game at all.
