apocalypse_kid Now there were a few ways that they could have adjusted this for different types of players that would have mde the ranking system more complicated but catered for ppl with different dedication level. For instance like in the MMORPG's this has been compared to with wizards, barbarians and etc, they could have had different rank paths, officers and enlisted, the officers would have had a higher entry point and more difficult ranks, different awards, and you select your rank path when creating a character. They could even have had a completely different path for ppl who are dedicated pilots. Doing it this way they could then have had different unlocks for different rank paths, giving ppl different weapons and even different abilities. For example if you chose to be a enlisted man and played as an engineer one of your unlocks would be bigger spanner which is NOT available to an officer or pilot who plays engineer, so you would be better at repairing things, but the officer might get binculars with laser targetting (yes that again LOL) that wasn't available to enlisted men and etc.
BF3 yo. If they adopt a Guild Wars model for server management this could be very reasonable. You start out as a Rank and File Private. Every time you spawn you can choose your level of Body Armor, primary weapon, secondary weapon, pistol, thrown and accessory. Balance it all out so that certain combos are either impossible or gimped and have at it. The ore you rank the more options you can choose from, the more awards you get the better the options become. Ah, this is a discussion for another topic and is severely making me miss Planetside before it became the suckfest that it is.
well .. given the fact that people complain soooo much about getting their monies worth, you would have thought that it would have been great to get a game that forces you to build points so as to get the next level. Hmmm that sounds damn familiar: Ad&d anyone ? People complained when they got the game, they complained about the system when they played it, and if you read through the posts here you will see that the same people who complained about the system the way it was, are the same people complaining about how it is now. Would you had rather bought a game that you can't return when you have finished it ? i mean think about it. The system offers you time to play. Play anytime you want as much or as little as you like. has anyone seen the guys out there with points in the hundred thousands ? Yeah that is NO life. i don't care who you are.
and Hydra: as we are demi-gods on the forums and you but a mere mortal, you better hope you have some sort of god slaying blade to help you. LOL just kiddin

What you mean a few more posts? your logic-statement attack (+5) would be as a limp string bean against my apochryphal "staff of judgement and humiliation" (+16)
Time to organize a raid-party. Who is with me? Need a caster and a tank. You take AK, and i cant take Merrik, we would be of the same level, if he didnt' use that demi-god cheet :D Besides, we can strike them just as they waste all their mana on disciplining those complainers :naughty:
