Ive heard rumors that the 6800s do not run BF 2 well. Ive heard things from both views some saying yes some saying no. But what is it really? I have a 6800GT Leadtek card (THe one with the ginormous heat sink) and its been overclocked to 6800Ultra speeds. Yet I struggle to acheive 30 FPS on my system and I run all medium with the dynamics at low AA at 2 and view distance 100 (need that for my sniping!) I run it at the 1024x960 (I think thats the right one)

If other specs matter: I have 1gb of PC3200 DDR400 Ram and an AMD Athlon 64 2800 Socket 754

But what I really want to know is if the rumors of the 6800s not running well is true?

Have you tried running the game without it being overclocked? I have a 6800 and BF2 runs great on mine.

I've got a 6800 gt , P4 2.6 HT + 1 gig of ram and I recently dropped shadows + textures to medium (all othrs high) and stuck up aa from none to full and cranked it from 1024 to 1152 and it runs totally smooth now where as before I had pauses (and looks better as well). Previoulsy had textures to high and I think it's a bit too much, seems to cause paging even with 1 gig of ram. The problem is that I made the changes at time of putting on 1.02 so if that has perhaps fixed the lag issue I dont know. Try those settings. Slim

hmmm i did try running before the overclock and the overclock is helping becasue it raised it 5-7 FPS. And yes I did use to run a 9600XT So i have used both and if memory servers me right it did pretty good but I dont rember the exact settings.

I have a BFG 6800 OC 256 (PCIe) run with everything maxed up except shadows, dropped that to medium and it runs great at whatever the 11?? x ???? setting it, can't recall the exact resolution, it's the last on the choice menu, I think.

I have a BFG 6800 OC, p4 3.2, 1 gig of ram... and it runs pretty poorly. I run at 800x600 mode, all settings medium/low, lights/shadows low, texture filtering low, and AA 2x just too avoid hang ups. And they STILL happen sometimes.

Your cpu might be bottlenecking your 6800GT? When I ran my game with a single 6800GT, settings all on high except for texture and terrain w/4x AA. 55fps average with drops to 30 and max of 95. SLI gets me 70-90 average depending on map and drops to 40 (extreme extreme conditions) and highest would be in the 90s.

I've got an eVGA GeForce 6800 with an Athlon 2800 and 1.5gb of PC3200 RAM and I haven't experienced a single problem that a bunch of other 6800 users have experienced.
