Over the past few days (Since BF2 Demo was released), There has been an ever growing population of problems. People can't start up the game. Computers will lag for no apparent reason. The Multiplayer menu is a waste of time. The list goes on and on .... :bawl:
Many have said that this is a "D-E-M-O". But am I right in thinking that a demo is a demonstration of the game and its potential? A demo is a cut down version of the game, not the first stages of the game which is refered to as a BETA.
Things will not be any different in the Full Game as it has already been released to a lucky few who pre-ordered it off of EA. Many know this as there is a post on BF2 Files (http://battlefield2.filefront.com/news/My_BF2_Has_Arrived;19538) that shows the game. Still looks pretty shitty without the necessary tweaks. But how is this different from the previous BF's? I admit it is modern warfare etc ... but someone could just as easily make a mod for BFV to do the same.
I won't be buying this game as it is a waste of time. For a start there are all the problems to overcome. The requirments are seriously under-cut as the game even battles to run on my specs (in sig) and my PC aint bottom of the line. Thats my 2pence.
And I have a Celeron D. Get ready for a story... Hey, man, I've had this exact same expirance working with the release of Empire Earth II - there were a lotta flaws in the demo, and with the realitivly small community on the offical boards we did what we could do bring everything together and expose flaws, unintresting, or unbalanced parts, and to point out stratigic locations to expand on, et cetera. This story has a bad ending right now, Mad Doc listened, and a few devs posted a little on the boards, and although they sure worked hard as hell, they really didn't make the magnificent improvement it would have taken to make that game a real hit, mostly (I think) because they squeezed their schedual and didn't set the release date back when they needed to. Now that the games out, they have made two patchs, all technical errors, and bring nothing really new to the gameplay or any major changes (besides one very very very nice one), and they've completly neglected thier mod community and devastated the Scenario community that lived on AoC. I know, because I run, more or less, the Modding for Empire Earth II, and over on www.empireearthmod.tk we havn't had a single dev register and we havn't gotten a signle bit of help out of the devs on the matter yet, and the forum I set up is now a ghost. They even designed the game to be heavy on Modablity, but damn, they forgot about their community, and now its left them. Sure they could revive it, but the deal is they packed their schedual and now they're scrambling to keep citizens from getting stuck inside trees when they could be getting tons of modelers and coders and putting the forum I made on the top of the jconserv leaderboard. I sure as hell hope Dice knows when to put the games release a week back (though its gone gold already), and they know how important the mod community is. EEII looked great from the videos you can download from their site, and so does BF2, but EEII's shown those videos don't mean a thing if you don't keep up afterward, asign a team, or even just one guy, to help your community of hundreds run a smooth road.
I see exactly where you are coming from :bows:
I have just read something else that made me laugh ... look in the General Chat section for a post about EA and Black Listing servers!
well, ive been a BF fan forever. Bf:v sucked...1942 wasn't bad it was just..eh..lack of gameplay..conquest conquest conquest.....BF2 isn't turning out to be what it was told..people were happy whores waiting to get the game and its just BLAH...if it really gets bad then..its back to Raven Shield and stupid Novalogic
Yea, this isn't looking too good in terms of what they claimed it was going to do and what we're going to be getting. I'll still have fun playing it though. I guess I'll have to consider it a refinement of DC.
So maybe for BF3 we could all go to Sweden and tell Dice how to make the game.
You are certainly enititles to your opinions, but, could we keep the errors and help forum for ppl who are asking for help and this stuff in the rants and raves forum thanks.
o ak..i think someone took ur name...Apocalypse boy hahaha
I dont see the problem. I can run BF2 on my AMD 2600+ (2.1Ghz) and 1GB Ram and a 9800Pro 128Mb. Not the best computer but it runs BF2 fine with everything on high, even lighting, dynamics and textures. No problem with connection or even FPS. Heck, I can even leave MSN running in the background without a problem and I only have an 512kb/s broadband connection.
Now if you cant run it on this:
Athlon 64 3800+ 1gig Corsair XMS PC3200 HIS Radeon X800XL 256mb (PCI-Express) Gigabyte K8NXP-9 nForce4 Ultra 400gig SATA 7200rpm
Then, you either have no idea what you're doing with the settings, you're trying to push the PC too much or you seriously have to clean the thing out and turn off those damn scanners and firewalls.
Seriously though, most of the people who complain about performance issues - it isnt because the requirements of the game are too high, it's because half of you dont know how to keep your PC running efficiently, clean or even up to date.
The game is a demo, so it's not the final product. You're also forgetting that every game has its problems. That's what patches are for. And, to my knowladge DiCE are quite good at patching up their releases. People keep judging BF2 already off a low-content demo that was obviously rushed out. To be honest, it's annoying. Give the game a chance for fucks sake.
Abusing fellow forum members is against the rules, please keepit civil thanks
I told u people before the game was released it wasnt gonna be as good as it looked
