Just thought i would give you guys an idea of what it looks like when the memory leaks ...LOL Thanks to Depetris at cpgaming.com for the pics off of my clans server and for his quick actions in recognizing what was happening. The patch set up a memory leak which causes the server to suck down the ram and not give it up .....For those of you who don't know what that is, Picture wringing out a towel when it is wet, you can only wring out soo much water by hand. Well the server is pulling more memory, than what it has. When checked, the server that these were on had two gigs of memory in the box. The patched server was calling on 3.5 gigs of memory. Of which it didn't have to give. It caused the server to lag. This is the direct result of the patch.

Eh.. I went ahead, and installed the patch anyway. So far no problems. EA/Dice is starting to piss me off though. First they release a buggy game then a buggy patch. One would hope that Dice finally gets it right on the next patch.

you need to make sure to monitor the virtual memory being used by games running the patch you will see what i've found after a few hours of letting the server(s) run.

ok sorry maybe this wasn't clear enough ...... It isn't a result of the CLIENT patch ..but of the SERVER patch ....... EA would have never pulled the client patch had it not been for the issues of the ram leak on the server patch ....the client patch in some instances corrected a few things not everything, the server patch was all screwed up.

Yes that is why most people are now using the ASE.

The client side patch has corrected all of my issues, which were limited. Mainly just the laggy server browser. I wouldn't dream of going back to 1.0 myself, that server browsing was so horribly broken. Also the fact that numerous servers crashed every round. Nope I'll wait for the hotfix.

Well the patch slowed down my computer so badly it takes about 30 minutes to load a map and load the textures for BF2 so I am not pleased and will be throwing my copy of BF2 out of my window.

The patch helps to load the server list faster but the pings are screwed up. I see American servers have lower pings than Europeans and the lowest ping possible is 150. Plus 0 pinged servers are still on top. I tried to use ASE but by the time i have watched all those EA, Dice and Nvidia animations and logged in, the server is already full. Is there any way to go into game without watching them? About the server patch, i noticed that it causes autobalance to screw up in the beginning of rounds. When i join a server it puts me and 29 other people in USMC team so the MEC has only like 2. Then i change the team and the autobalance starts working normally in couple of minutes but suddenly i have a connection problem. I get disconnected from the server. Then i try to connect fast to the same server again before no one takes my free slot. When the map has loaded and im back on the server, im again on the USMC team with 29 other people and i see a long list of other people who got thrown out from the server when they got autobalanced to MEC team. Ive seen this happening many times and not just to me. I dont understand how can you fail making an ingame server browser. It should be one of the easiest things to do when making a game. ASE is so simple, fast, powerful and has tons of more filters and shizzle and still loads all servers like 100 times faster. Of course computer isnt running a huge game at the refreshing moment, but still. I love the game but by the time ive got to a decent server, im on the edge of suicide. If Osama himself ever gets his hands on this game, the next bomb attacks will be at EA and Dice main buildings... but people who own(ed) the game wont feel any sympathy for casualties. ;) EDIT: Just noticed that even Xfire server browser is better.

The patch has been buggy for me. I've written before about how everything was great for me before the patch. Servers ran fine, but now they're lagging like crazy. I thought patches were supposed to FIX problems, not create them. Seriously, I might as well reinstall the game and not install the patch. Otherwise, there's no point in playing the game.
