in many trailers for bf2 i have heard about a lasers designator so you can use the laser to send a signal to a aircraft ore chopper to take a vehicle out with a laser guided rocket... anybody that know anything about this?
It was removed due to problems with use becasue it required the pilot to line it up and all. Even though I think they should have left it in.
I think air power is deadly enough as it is.If anything,anti-air should be beefed up.
Agreed, AA is too weak.
Acutally if they were to re-add the laser designators then it would actually weaken air power. Becasue now instead of bombers just being able to lock an enemy target automatically a ground force would have to do it first and then a missle could be fired. I think the balance problem with AA though is that becasue all the weapons are now AA missles which are just to stupid to hit planes. Just give people some decent AA guns.
The AA was just fine b4 the patch i could take out jets and chopers a lot easyer . Now all they do is miss and tk ya team mates :(. But the laser designator sounds good hope they put it in next patch.
The AA missiles seem to lock onto Teammates better than enemies. Also they are totally useless because they are mounted. Give us shoulder fired AA EA! Make it a switchable thing, like you either get an AT rocket or an AA launcher.
Yep, they scrapped it before release. I agree that there are a large number of very good pilots out there that can wipe any board with a ton of kills. Sucks, sure, but I give them credit for being so good at it, since I completely suck at it. On the flip side, the AA that's currently in the game does suck pretty hardcore. I've tried all the methods/tips/tricks that I can find and I've taken down a good number of jets, but not enough to prove that the AA really improved much since the last patch (as it was supposed to have been). I've probably TK'ed more in the AA than I've actually shot down enemy planes. Sucks. I know that "Battlefield 2: Modern Combat" for the consoles have a laser designator to paint targets. Since the console version doesn't have jets (from what I understand), if you paint a target long enough, an AI controlled sequence of events takes place to simulate a friendly jet coming by and bombing the point you painted.
Its true that the console version does that but thats becasue they lack player controlled planes and arty (I think) So its more of a simulated jet strike kinda like Wolfenstiens Leutenant class that could throw "Air strikes" (Colored smoke cloads that eventually got bombed yet there were no planes in the game)
We want Stingers!
