Im thinking of getting saitek ST290, or the saitek cyborg evo. I really dont want to spend more than 35 bucks. My main concern is the thrust for those two is at the back of the joystick, and its going to sit in my lap. Anyone have a better suggestion for that cheap of a price?

The Saitek Cyborg Evo is excellent for battlefield. The hat is in just the right position for switching between nosecam and chase, for looking back on any pursuers, or where your bombs landed. The throttle has a good degree of control, for hovering, and there are a bunch of buttons on the bottom for mapping to other stuff. Personally, I set the left and right triggers to "E" (exit vehicle) and "9" (parachute), for easy escape.

from my experience...its hard to find a GOOD joystick that will fit comfortably in your lap. When mine is in my lap..it is hard to use the rudder accordingly. I have a logitech xtreme 3d pro or watever..got it for $30 on sale. Course since you wanna put it into your lap you wouldnt want it cuz the throttle is on the back. I have returned 2 saitek joysticks....they have cheap springs in them that wear out after continuous use in lil over a month. botttom line you dont want a joystick that has a spring in it....get one with the airbag..it feels more realistic..and allows for better control:naughty:

yeah i haev the same thing, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro i set it on my desk in front of the monitor, i use it for flying in Battlefield and other flying game and i use it for driving in my racing games works great, buttons are all in good places and theres plenty of them

but yeah, mine has some play in it since its a few years old but it does what i want it to for the most part, wit hthe wear it has its now a better flyer than a driver, when driving its out of alignment so i always have to correct it and its difficult sometimes

oh hell yea..i love the button layout on the logitech extreme 3d pro. The hat switch is perfect for utilizing every different camera view.(Which is SUPER important) I have had 1 problem with the joystick..and trying to assign vehicle seat positions to the black buttons to the left of the flightstick. I tried to put my F1 and F2 keys on them...so I could fly the chopper in solo.. Well it lets me switch to the gunner seat in the heli, but I cant switch back to the pilot. The key is mapped correctly it just wont work. Anyone had a similar problem?
