the x8 is probly referred to as the anti-aliasing in the game or aniostropic filtering.....if your using anything under a ati 9800 then you should probly have this at x2 at the most. its usuall like this in your catylist drivers or your generitc vid card drivers...you can change this setting, basically it improves on jagged edges and helps everything look more smooth. Bf2 is pretty jagged without this. I can either play on high with shadows and lighting medium and anti-aliasing off in the vid card setup in the game....or change everything to medium exept textures and geometry...and turn anti-aliasing on6x. It also depends on your processor. If you dont know what these do then do some research ...and read about what everything does.

Go into the computer BIOS and look for the AGP settings. each BIOS is different so I can't tell you where to look or how to do it exactly, but it shuold be fairly straightforward.

Cause he has a Radeon 9200, and you can sometimes get them to work by setting your AGP to 4X.

Oh yes the 8x agp I didnt think of that.hes got the radeon software so he can check out the control panel in the smart gart section. I used to have an intel mother board that limited me to 4x agp. If you know what model your mobo is he could look it up.....thats what I did with mine. I ended up buying a new mobo...If you dont want to get into replacing the mobo you might be stuck with it....check your smart gart first and see what it is set at....2x 4x and 8x. I cant check in in my bios just can change the memory configurations such as 64, 128, and 256 mb vid cards.

Why dont you give some info to start on like your processor, mobo, do you have the same speed ram? Mixed matched I know because of the 600 somthing right? do you have a 512 stick and a 128 stick? ar they the same speed? It looks to me that no matter what card you buy....youll need a faster procseesor and spend a little on decent ram...waht is your sound card? Sound cards can cause lag as well. An ati radeon 8500 is supposed to be able to run this game on low...so why cant a 9200 do it? My friend played it with my old 64 mb vid card on low. Not kidding either.

Well strangely enough, the 9200 is based on a tweaked Radeon 7000 core, it's actually an older core than the 8500, that's why the 9200's have problems, they were produced as a cheap competitor to the FX5200 and aren't based on the same core as the 9500, 9600 and 9800.

wow thats pretty cool I never knew that. I do know that the 8500 held its own for a while even towards some of nvidias better cards. I had the 64mb version for my first video card and it held its own for a while. Then I went for the 9800pro 256 card....now that is cheap...and the 850 is out......bstards huh....if only I had known....lol
