The 64-player Gulf of Oman map is the same size as the 32 person map, it just has another capture point initially held by the US (the most southeastern point I think; the place where there was a small base but no point in the demo). Anyway... I love Dragon Valley now. It's got everything, and it's pretty big, and although I hate sniping in BF2, I can actually do a decent job with my ass parked on a hill (or with the assault's grenade launcher, really devistating once you learn how to use it correctly). Taking a buggy down the side of the river with other people while dodging enemy fire is pretty fun too.
I like Karkand, good infantry map, and good AT opportunities. Daqing Oilfields, because there are planes, and in the central control point (the one with the four or five big silos) is fun for anti-tanking. Running out from behind the prefabs, the AA vehicles appearing round the corner, those evil overpowered linebackers opening fire... Gulf of Oman, well balanced, lots of good dogfights, bombing opportunities and attack chopper fighting. Only problem is that US can whore MEC permaspawn (bring in tanks etc) but MEC can only get troops onto the USS Essex. I don't consider that whoring - I think it's fun, searching the deck for saboteurs. I remember a great game I had when 3 of us got together, and got into the Essex. One got into the MiG, two into the Flanker. The Flanker bombed the carrier, one person jumped out, while the turret was firing at the Flanker, he managed to parachute into the water. Then the MiG bombed the turret, and the Flanker pilot got out as well. (I was the Flanker pilot.) The MiG did a few more spins (he might have shot down a JSF - don't remember) before ditching the plane. When we were all on board, we got to work. We had one support (me) and two Spec Ops. They just C4ed the planes and helicopters, and turrets, while I resupplied, and shot anyone that got near with that bigass gun. No one really caught on, as far as I know, I only killed a few people. No one really searched the deck, because those that were killed, were n00bs and just ran away or chose another spawn point, and we didn't just blow the planes up when they took off, we waited until they were in a dogfight and blew them. But then they only had the carrier left, so one of the SOs said, "It's kinda whoring now... let's go." I got into a JSF and left, they took the Cobra. MEC won easily. Teamwork like that makes winning easy. Don't get it often though. I don't try to rally people into teamwork (cause it never really works) but I always cooperate when others try to rally me.
I like Strike at Karkand the best, especially the chaos around the top MEC spawn point. Also, I like Sharqi Peninsula because of the variety.
There is a poll in the same forum: http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=205885 Why would you want to create a new thread on the same subject considering we just had a poll on it?
I am a fan of urban maps, and will agree with everyone that Karkand is the best one, especially with 64 people (non-noobs). But it seems everyone forgot about Mashtuur City, with is also good with 32-64 people. Operation Clean Sweep is also a great map as it has a good mixture of air, land, and sea combat options.
I despise Clean Sweep. I dunno why, I just hate it...
Yea it can suck ass if you play with noobs, but thats with any map.
morgsterWow, is the demo one "Small"? So how big is the 64 player one compared?
Morgster, in-game go to Multiplayer, then Create Local, then set the map size to 32 players and tool around in there. No bots, but you can get a feel for the 64 player version of the map (like Torpov has already said).
I didn't make it!
My favorite map is Operation Clean Sweep. I like it because I like boat combat and stuff
