That's a tough decision, but I'd have to go w/ Apocalypse Now, because of Robert Duvall's portrayal of Col. Kilgore.

"What do you know about surfing soldier, you're from god-damned New Jersey!"

"Chalie don't Surf!"

I think Col. Kurtz was a genius, whatever he said, made sense in an eery way.

"I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream, that's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor, and surviving!"

That movie will always be in my top ten for a couple of reasons: 1. The Ride of the Valkyries 2. Whatever Kurtz says 3. "Terminate, with extreme prejudice"

i picked Platoon, because yes, it did show the life of a typical soldier in Vietnam. My favorite movie thats not up there has got to be We Were Soldiers. my grandpa was in that battle, and described it to me. he watched it too, and after he started talking again, he told me that it was the most accurate movie of Vietnam he has ever seen (he has seen almost every one that has been made). i also like it because it shows the unsung heros of the war: The wives and children that had to endure the hard ships of their husbands and fathers being at war, and dealing with the deaths of the soldiers. oh, and Full Metal Jacket is a VERY close second.

i would have to say apoc now, for most (if not all) of the reasons already listed, however, octovon hit the nail squarely on the head with his! we were soldiers is an awesome movie, depicting america's entrance into the vietnam conflict. and the troubles the french had. the sgt. maj was the highlight of that movie! (sam something-or-other

'fine day sgt.major' 'you a goddamn weatherman?'

priceless one-liners all through the movie.
