Well, it's supposed to look like a catastrphy and destruction film in the beginning, in the original, we didn't see who or what was causing all the destruction and chaos till later in the film.

so far the trailers make it look perfect so far, so your statement above dread was quite... out of place... oh and new york owns england, end of story.

'Dreadnought[DK']i won't be seing it. i saw a trailer for it here the other day. if it was placed in london in the early 20th century, i might see it. however, it's in new york today, and by the look of it i looks more like catastrophy and destruction film without too much content. it's a complete sellout of the story ;r

I suppose the reason behind the relocation is to make the themes of having our way of life smashed to pieces by alien invaders more poignant, because the viewer wouldn't relate so much to London nearly a hundred years ago (sorry if it's closer to 50 years ago, I haven't actually read the book). That said I'd have preferred the original setting too, we already have Independence Day to fill the aforementioned quota. Plus, no offence Sturm, but New York sucks. ;)

Yes. Definitely. I totally agree, you are an idiot. roll%20eyes%20%28sarcastic%29.gif Moving swiftly on...I’m glad Steven Spielberg is directing it as I think he's quite a capable director. At the very least, the film should be mildly entertaining, I reckon.

When I first heard about it and that it was being directed by Spielberg, I was sure that it was going to be excellent, especially with Tom Cruise as the star. Now having seen a commercial of it that sent chills down my back, I am all the more encouraged.

I think that the trailers look HOT! I just can't wait until it comes out, and I promise that has nothing to do with a certain someone starring in it....

I'm deffinitely going to see it, probably not at the theaters, I'll see it when it comes out on DVD most likely. Speilburg said that he made this movie relating to 9/11. I wonder if the aliens will die the same way as in the original.

IMO, this movie will be over-rated.
