So...I just spent 8+ hours over the weekend playing the demo. Needless to say I was obsessed. It brings me back to the good old BF42 days.

I played the game on High (with shadows on low and a couple other options set to Medium. AA was on 4x) 3.4 AMD Processor ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (both computers have this card and work perfect, no issues) 1 gig of ram Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1

Graphics: Absolutely beautiful. Everything is very detailed...the over-all feeling is very gritty and realistic...from flying in the jet to being inside the tank..it's all beautiful. Nothing more to say :)

Gameplay: The heart of the game...So many new things...and some old stuff brought back.

First, the squad ability. This is by far the biggest addition...and my most favorite. It raises teamplay to a whole new level. Every single match I played was so deep in teamplay...everytime the squad leader brought up a new objective on our screens we all went to that location...it wasn't uncommon to see soldiers on both sides stucking together in groups. I saw a line of three guys sneaking along the beach to take out our Arty. I was impressed...of course I killed them...but I was still impressed. ;)

The Commander is a VERY cool addition...I really enjoyed calling for Arty and watching as hell rained down on the enemy. As well as getting supplies when I need them anywhere.

The kids...ohh..the glorious kits. And so many to choose from :)

My two favorites were the Spec Ops (can't quite remember the name) and the Assault. ONe thing...I noticed a few things...some people say that Assault is worthless and all the weapons seems to be very inaccuate. heh...right. Don't think so. For one..Assault is a pure joy to use. The grenade launcher is incredibly helpful. And I believe the assault rifle is a bit stronger. Time after time I would rush in with my rifle, grenade a few guys and then quickly shoot a few others. Assault is DEADLY when used right. Spec Ops is very useful as well thanks to the scope and the C4..it tends to be more the "sneaky" kit. while assault is pure, wholesome violence. :) Every kit is perfectly balanced. I DID have worries about the Sniper rifles being too easy due to having no sway when looking through the scope...thankfully that isn't so. You can only get a one-shot kill if you hit them in the head...and with sprinting in the game that makes it VERY hard.

The vehicles are all perfectly balanced. No vehicle is the "be all" of vehicles. Tanks are awesome..they feel very large and bulky. But also deadly. I would say that Anti-Tank can take them out easy if you are not in a squad. But thankfully smart people use the squad and therefore have people to watch their back :) The jets were a blast to dogfight in.

Overall..the game really IS perfectly balanced. No changes needed.

Sound: Insanely well done..everything sounds authentic or cool.

Overall...the best FPS out there...Period.

Stage one, irrational exuberence. Stage two, denial. Yea, it is a good game. Definantly not the best out there. Gfx aren't THAT good, sound is great, except menu music. Gameplay is fun and as people are getting used to it, it becomes more team oriented.

I for one am extremely disapointed so far. If the demo is anything of what the game will be like, I would probably pass on it even if it was in the bargain bin for $10, which it very may well go shortly if improvements are not made. Here are the issues: 1.) The interface/menus are just horrible. Very slow and cumbersome. Often when I click on a tab, to go from multiplayer to options for example, the game does not respond. Often it is slow enough it appears as if the game has locked up. 2.) Multiplayer game menu is very bad. Personally I have always liked Call of Duty's or even Joint Ops menus in find a game. Here in BF 2, again the GUI is cumbersome enough that it is sometimes impossible to find a game. For example I wish to sort games by number of players/server size. Often it takes over a minute to refresh/sort. That is unacceptable consider it takes other games a fraction of a second 3.) We actually have had to reboot our machines at times to people to get the game to function properly. Just now I had to reboot to get the MP server list from locking up? All I have done since last reboot was to play this game! 4.) Numerous errors when connecting two online servers. Often, it just takes too #*(@ long to get online. Server after server gives some stupid error message. 5.) Now this is just personal, but I was sad to see that my pc's specs are not robust enough to enjoy the game fully. I have an AMD 2800 XP, 1.2GB RAM, ATI 9600 128MB, and the graphics are dumbed down to the lowest setting. Where as in COD, Joint Ops, and America's Army I can have all options at fullest at 1280x1024 and have very good performance. 6.) Gameplay: Well the usual idiotic stuff that is common to all on-line gaming-MORONS are everywhere. Some games people are initiating vote kicks and mutinys every #(@# second. Oh and the VOIP, forget about that. Sure enough my first match I did not have that turned off and had to listen to stupid 16 year olds talk about "boobies" as if they actually know something about the female anatomy. VOIP is nice for local lans with friends or for clans or goups online, but for general online gaming it is the dumbest idea 7.) So far I can not map any keys to my mouse, except for the basic left and right button, even though I have a 5 button mouse. Also, can not get crouch to actually stay in the postion without holding the button down. All in all, I really do hope improvements are made. But until then my money is going elsewhere. Sad, because I have been looking forward to this game for what seems like a year now.

I dont feel like "OHHH MY GOD GAME TO END ALL GAMES!" But I do personally feel satisfied. The assault isnt worthless oh and dont forget people you can switch firing modes which greatly increases accuracy. its True Gfx arent the best available but its with 63 other players! If everyone had the detail of Doom3 Youi wouldnt be able to run this game with Dual 6800 ULTRAS. SO it is poretty good. Yes everything is an improve ment IMO. I do still feel that the Laser designator and C4 sticking to palyers should have been added but still nothing here to complain about. I dont feel that it is the best ever. I think its the best at what is was designed for. Since you cant compare the game to lets say Splinter cell since that game is completely diffrent. Or even RTCW which is more progressive objective taking compared to a huge battlefield. But among the games that are trying to make a game that has the same setting as BF2, BF2 is at the top at the moment.

Oh and sbn I do understand what you mean adn your right at some points. THe GUI is a matter of taste and for me it doesnt take very long to get into a game. Sure longer than BF1942 but that should be expected. I never have any trouble joining servers that much. I was getting some annoying PB error but I fixed that and I found it was becasue I was using Process Gaurd (Anti hacker program)

Your right there are some idiots in-game like some 16 year olds (I am 16 BTW) that talk trash on the VOIP but getting a good server youll do fine. And I will admit I am not the best with VOIP seeing as sometimes I overreact at game I admit and I act stupidly. But I normally appologize to everyone and ask them to shoot me next time I do it to remind me not to overreact and that its just a game.

If you dont like the game thats your opinion but remeber sometimes it can just be problems your having and it can be a bad server. I also have the pretty much same specs as you expcept I have a 9600XT 256mb card ATM. I can run on relatively high at good resolutions and get erhhhhh 20-30 FPS (Yea kinda bad thats why i ordered a 6800GT :D ) But mabey if you gave it an hour or so and joined a few official servers things may be better. But i cant control you its just my suggestion.

Wow, talk about over-exageration. :P I have yet to find a "bad server"

No one I've talked to has had any tech issues. (this includes gaming clans)

As for graphic requirements...no debate there...you need at least a modern machine :P

You and amok both just over-exagerate to no end it seems.

I've had nothing but AWESOME experiences in the demo. Major team play in everything from the squad to the commander doing their things. The graphics are beautiful and finely detailed.

Also, what good gamer uses in-game server browers anyway??

So sorry to hear about your disapointments. I really love it and I have played it for about 20 hours now. I do agree with you about some of the menu's, especially choosing a server.....you cant just scroll down....it goes like in groups of ten, the server list doesnt work very well either.....sort by name...or any thing and half of it is messed up. Even when you dont change your graphics, when you load into a new map, it has to reprocess everything...... However, team play is incredible.....I tried a few different squads, but some of them suck...and they give really stupid orders....like the map is totally taken over by the other team and they defend the base.....its like wtf? The base is incapturable.....however I ran into the same problems when I tried a vietnam tournement.....stupid captains.....if you have good people and you move into a group then its great.....but I found going solo as anti tank is the way to go some times.......the special ops is great to....change to semi-auto and you can snipe people with it....hell yeah.....and I took out the arty quite a few times........ My computer was runing great last night and will run better with a new processor, but I have 2ghz oc to 2.26 1gig ram.....9800 pro 256..audigy sound card..and DSL at about 1mbit.....I play right now at 800*600 on high cause I have a 14 or 15 inch monither lol.... oh yeah and dont forget that when you first install the demo or any game...your computer will freeze up on you if you dont pre-allow it in your firewalls...windows and your norton or McAfee.. I would suggest every one to try different graphics settings....you will tell if the lag is from your computer or from the server..... Game on!

i wish i could play the damn demo. My computer was just a bunch of parts thrown together a couple years ago... i have an AMD 2400+ (1 GHz), ASUS K8 Motherboard (soemthing like that..the one they recommended for the processor),Radeon 9200, 512 mb RAM, not sure of the video card (SoundBlaster Live! i think)..the demo starts, but after it sows BATTLEFILD with the 2 behind it, and the shitty menu music plays..it says something about my video card...i know the minimum requirements are like 1.5 Ghz but i just wanted to try it... :( poor me...

HellKat54: My specs were good for the demo til I got to the video card as well. I sprung some cash on the Chainlink 6600 and have had no problems playing the demo. Anyhow - The demo... or as much as I have played (about a half hour) seems cool. I can see how it'll be fun to play, but found an issue or two. Commander Mode crashed my system as soon as I tried to enter it. Load times are abysmal at first but after the 1st round ends it's cool. I also had a hard time using the radial radio commands to say a vehicle was in the vicinity, but I'm sure it just takes practice. I really like the number of kits and the emphasis on certain kits' purposes. Instead of a "well rounded" few kits there's a "specific task" for nearly all of them. I really like when a Medic is just a Medic and not a Kick-Ass Shock Trooper with a medpack. Maybe it comes from me playing so much D&D - You wouldn't have a Fighter pick a lock... call in the Rogue. All in all I need more time with the demo, but I like it more than I don't and can see it as a great way for me to really come back to the series.
