hey dudes I've been playing BFV for a while now and I've seen some amazing skills with the helicopters. and I was wondering if any of you could give me some good tips on how to be a better pilot. ie. landing and controling the helicopter better. Thanks.:)

A lot of people have submitted tips and ideas on how to improve your flying techniques with the helicopters... try searching if you haven't yet. The first thread that comes to my mind is this one, though I don't know how far beyond the beginner stage you are.

my tip for landing: this applies for an example like flying along at high speeds and then someone asking for a picking and you need to slow down quickly. tilt the heli back quite a lot or depending on how fast you are going and how far away your subject is. dont forget WHILE you are tilting you should already be pushing the "stick" (imaginary) foward. if you leave for too long you'll go all the way back and you'll start travelling backwards. while your tilted back press whatever key you have to decrease altitude (default S). Level up, not too drastick movement or too weak. Have a quick cheack outside with F10 and F11 to make sure your roter blades wont hit anything. You should never really land on a slope. but if the subject is on a slope then make sure he knows your going to find flat land, tell him to "follow you" or anything to grab his attention, slowly make your way to flat land. level out again. hold down "S" and decend, once your near the ground let go and do one or two short presses of "S". once youve landed you may tilt foward, dont panic. hold down "S". the "tilt back monuover" is highly recognised as a professional quality and people will feel comfortable getting into your heli. NEVER practice alone, you need to practice in single with bots or just a normal server because you still need to remember thats theres a war going on around you. after you've mastered that, start practicing flying into the "nap of the earth". that move is respected to be only used by confident pilots. its also strategically to your advantage, i wont explain why because ive already written loads!!!!!!! if you have seen We Were Soilders you will know why i have choosen my name!! hope this damn long post helped.

You can and should practice alone for starters. Nothing more annoying than trying to figure out simple crap and getting blasted out of the sky by a MiG. The only thing I can say otherwise is what everyone else has said: Practice.

Of course KNOWING what to practice would help, right? Open up Operation Hastings. Make attempts at buzzing the temple, circling to the extreme east to land at the rice paddy about mid-map, and learn to use the cold zones along the borders of the map. Then figure out good ways to sneak up on the hot spots.

Trick flying is cool but impractical and rarely seen actually in a server. Make yourself a better pilot by knowing the little things about a few key maps. Use the boundries and dead zones to your advantage. When you think you have a good handle on these strategies, fire up a game with bots. See how well your plan works against stupid AI targets/enemies. AFter they fall for your tricks enough, go online.

Since the addition of the 1.1 patch, many people, including myself, have noticed that helicopters are a bit more challenging to fly. To me it's a shame that the answer to a stupid seat-switching exploit resulted in making a main feature of the game a little less approachable to the average gamer. I'm quite aware that real helicopters are hard to fly, but this is a game - it doesn't have to mirror real life. I could fly them rather well before the change. Now I suck. Back to Long Range Artillery for me I suppose...

Along with what padre said.

Fly along terrain, like trim the trees and what not. It is (for me)quite exilerating and it is good for getting better at anticipating how fast to go and what angle to go up and what speed and every thing. A good map to do this is operation irving. Try weaving in and out along the roads with the steep inclines and trees all along them (this will help you out alot when you are trying to hid from some damn mig that is hounding your chopper). Other than that dont spend too much time blasting bot soldiers focus on shooting tanks it will help you alot!!

Actually, it is probably best to shoot infantary because they are smaller so you would be more acurate when it comes to shooting something else.

A good pilot waits for a full load, a better pilot makes it back to base, but typing whilst flying and engaging & changing music!!! More than meets the eye!:naughty:

P.S - Don't forget to have fun!:smokin:
