I just had an interesting game. I was playing Ho Chi Mien Trail and i was at the beginning base for the US. I was the only played defending this base everyone else was trying to take other bases. I was on the hill behind the base when I see a VC soldier run into our base. At the same time our tank spawned, so naturaly i call for reinforcements because he hopped into the tank. He goes and parks next to the flag, so i slide down the hill to keep him from capturing this flag. He soon realizes i'm there and i continue asking for help and radio that there is "enemy armor" at my position. What do you know, I have 10 teamates at our next base right over the hill and none of them come to help even though the /!\ symbol is there. A few of them go to the top of the hill and look down at me, i know because i looked around the corner of the hut and saw them, but they just leave and go attack the temple. For the next 8 minutes i continue to call for help as the tank and i play a game of hide and go seek. The tank goes to one side of the hut i stay on the otherside. Once and awhile we see each other, and he'll lands a shell 5 ft away or hit me with the machine gun. Fortunately this map has health kit which i'm using constantly. After the 8 minutes of dancing around this hut he manuvers away from the flag so i'm next to it and gets a lucky shot through both windows of the hut and kills me. He goes back to start capturing the pont and soon after I respawn with the new M14/L.A.W. combo, call for help, and after two shots he abandons the tank, i hit him with my last rocket, and what do you know the cavalry finally arrives after the fight is over. It only took them 10 minutes to realize that i needed help.
I just don't see why you would ignore constant requests for reinforcements when the /!\ symbol keeps appearing and stay for a solid 5 minutes. I believe this discussion has come up once before, but it seems someone should atleast check if a teamate calls for help, and if they see that there is a problem they should assist.
On a side note, I have to say that the tank driver was quite good, he tricked me into thinking he move or had gotten out of the tank a few times, thus getting me to expose myself, which resulted him getting some good nonfatal shots at me.
I had a game similar to that not too long ago. However, a few people at first hung around the Main base. After a few minutes or so of constant fighting, we realized that the VC had managed to get their tunnel down by the main base. Almost the entire map was fought between the Main and the point just north of it. But to your point here...I agree, very few people will actually turn back to help control/retake a point if it is threatened. I must confess, that I've done it a few times as well. But I am at least aware of the situation on the map before making my decision to continue or return. If I see a lot of my teammates at that point, depending on how far I am away from it I will continue on with my original course, But ifthere are only a couple people there or I see a lot of blue or red (whichever the case may be) arrows disappear, then I will return to that point to lend assistance.
This kind of problem always seems to happen to me as well. No matter how many times you say over the radio "requesting reinforcements" no one hardly ever comes!! Sometimes in a game when I have kinda made friends with a guy or if I am playing with one of my buddies then they will come to help me out because they like to help out buddies. I almost never get help if I have just come into a server and I am defending a base and requesting for help. I always try to help out my team mates when I hear their reinforcements calls. I also always head over to a flag if the /!\ symbol comes up.
I hear ya, Conface. I *have* noticed though that since the /!\ was incorporated into the game, players have been taking more proactive solutions to possible flag captures and recaptures. Sure, I don't see it all the time, but at least it's happening moreso. It *does* help to have at least one other buddy in the game with you. I know when I'm playing online with a group of guys I know, we each try our best to back each other up... whether that means to stick as a group on a flag assault, tunnel smash, or to turn around and go fix that /!\.
yea happens to me alot but the thing is the only way how kids are able to find out where u are is if you type is cuz there is no player thing that shows on the radar yo9u no also the only reason why they most likely came back was b/c they saw the flag being captured ...:smokin:
when you call for something your arrow on the map flashes yellow, but it's pointless if nobody looks at the map to see where it's coming from.
yep i knoiw
