Let me start this thread off by saying one thing: This was not my idea. You all know a regular to the GF BFV Forums: Ender Wiggin. He and I were discussing things we really did not like about BFV and the topic of chopper whoring came up. Then he said something that, to me, made complete sense: Fuel. He suggested that each vehicle, especially air vehicles, should have some sort of fuel gauge that constantly depletes while a player is in the #1 position. In addition, vehicles could be refuled but only at the landing pad/runway they came from, and only when stationary. It would work a lot like getting repaired/rearmed but slower to recharge. Though I don't think EA will in any way make this a change in BFV, I'm sure some modder out there will.

It's a good idea, Padre. But it might slow down some of the action when people are waiting for the chopper to refuel. Hell they might just rather abandon it in midair, knowing that respawning a Huey is quicker. But a good idea nonetheless.

Yeah, fuel for aircraft is something I've been thinking about ever since DC came out with its choppers but I've never gotten around to trying anything.

I was thinking that one could adapt the 'heat' feature for fixed machine guns. You know, as you fire away the gun heats up until it doesn't work.

Maybe the heat bar could be renamed 'fuel' and made to run backwards (start full up and slowly deplete over time). Lotta coding and implementing involved though, and a coder I am not.

Hope someone makes this work. And as for ditching aircraft as opposed to fueling them, that can be fixed by adjusting spawn times.

Not a bad idea there Padre, but I still feel that the time it takes choppers to reapir/re-arm is way to short. I can land and dust off fully armed/repaired in a matter of seconds. I think they should at least triple the time(if not longer) to re-arm/repair a helo. I think it would make for less careless flying on the pilot's behalf and make him think twice about going for that "extra kill".

I think that you all make very good points. Padre and his friend,........but I think that Dipship made it come to life. I think that this could be possible. And I really think you both are friggin Geniouses...........and because I cannot spell very good!lol

Instead of the fuel.......you could run it so the the vehicles engines get too hot and over heat after time....and defintly adjust spawn times for the helos and repair times......unless it is not aircraft....because soldiers need to repair vehicles in due time....especially transport....: so it would be based on need and importancy.

I love to be an engineer when I am on the Veitcong side......but the engineer on the usa team sucks......come on now, its like bringing a knife to a gun fight.....same with the rocket launcher....... Something needs to be done about damage system.....I hate Helo Rapers!!!!!!!

Just like a wop, bringing a knife, to a gunfight! Great quote for the Irish vs. Italians But I love that torch and c4, I hop in a cobra (yes, I use heatseekers, but I strafe with chaingun too) land, repair, but with torch +c4, you can blow up a tank with stealth.
