i have an x-45 and its a great stick but it has a problem with bf`942 wich does not recognise the number of controlls and axis on the device... as a result the trottle doesnt work...

and as a result of that ive been tweeking and testing and ive found the single most intuitive way to fly choppers:

cyclic pitch - mouse (inverted; up=up down is down) cyclic roll - left/right arrow keys rudder - mouse collective - up/down arrow keys

this way u do most of the moving around wile the keyboards is handling stability.

any1 should be able to fly decently like this.

Well its a good stick, but both bf1942 and bfv have trouble recognising some of the controlls.

i havent tryed it yet for bfv but with bf1942 its way to sensitive. planes are flyable but helos are crap to fly... if u can find a way to scale down the sesitivity it would be a great stick to use, but sinse im mainly interested in the helos i dont think ill use it for bf much.

about the throttle: there is a fix for this on the saitek support forum but it doesent work with the latest version of bf1942, the fix for bfv should still work though...

Up until recently I used the key/mouse combo which is good for ground/heli but I always had a problem getting the planes to turn and perform as others did. So I went and got a FireStorm Dual Analog Gamepad and now I use that for planes and the key/mouse for the ground/heli. It made a huge difference, I still get taken out by other planes but I done feel like a fish in a barrel.

Keyboard-mouse combo, because I don't like having to switch controls & it's just alot easier for me.

I use the X45 in BF1942, and occasionally in BFV. To get the throttle to work, just create a profile in the profile editor, and use the percentages (forgot the actual term) function for the throttle control. Works like a charm.

Gotta do the stick. Why play if you can't make it as realistic as possible. It's not always about the # of kills.

I normally use my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. But sometimes I use my mouse.
