Alright, i had the game working fine, everything worked, it was great.

Today when i was looking for a server to join, all of the servers names were numbers... like: -299592729 565297293 -991272723

I figured it was my connection (it's been going up and down lately, VERY annoying) so i closed the game, and tried to re-open it a bit later.

When i tried running the game from a shortcut, it gave me an error (one of the erriors like "BF2142.exe has encountered a problem"), and when i ran the DVD, it did nothing except show the static picture of the walker and a few troops, which would come up INSTANTLY, as if it wasn't even loading, and then close and do nothing, which also happened with the shortcuts. So i figured "Hey, i'll just reinstall the game, it was working before so maybe a fresh copy will work as well"

Now when i run the DVD, i choose my language, click install, and get a new error:

An error (-5006 : 0x8000ffff) has occurred while running the setup. Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: EA Games.

With the details tab stating:

Error Code: -5006 : 0x8000ffff Error Information: >SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1356) pAPP:Battlefield 2142 PVENDOR:EA Games PGUID:ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC $10.50.0.125 @Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 232.64

The demo, still, works perfectly fine, no errors at all.

Can someone please help me out on this?

Thanks again, Erixx

Well one system restore later i got around the issue, but now i'm back to the problem (with no image coming up, just going directly to the error):

BF2142.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Not sure if it will help or not but it can't hurt:

AppName: bf2142.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: ~df394b.tmp ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00083c9c
