I have not seen one in game...is there a German 75mm light infantry gun in FH? If not, this would be a good weapon to add for early war Germans.
Yes there is, its the Stug3b Assault Gun. We got it. If your talking about an infantry gun, no sir. 75mm recoild would send you through hell twice if you fired it out of your arms.
The gun I am referring to is a field piece, used in an anti-personell and anti-tank role. See the following link: http://www.qt.org/worldwar/weapons/germany/heer/ig18.html It shows specs and a picture of the weapon. My understanding is that they were used extensively in the early war. Later replaced by 50mm and 75mm long anti-tank. In game, the gun would be placed in a fixed position. Or, maybe towable. Ideally, it would be moveable by infantry, but this is probably difficult to do. JTM
would be cool to have it on a map like the "Karelia", with two trenches and MG pits. Would be pretty cool to see some explosions in the middle of the field. I read that the gun Fired HE shells so it could be like an explosive anti Infantry gun, not so overpowerfull as a anti tank gun.
That's a recoilless gun right?
I think we should have French 75s as well. They were widely used by the Germans after scads and scads were captured when the French ran away screaming.
You were there?
D-fenceThat's a recoilless gun right?
No, it is an artillery piece.
I don't think it was recoilless. Apparently, the gun was so light that its maximum propellant charge had to be limited to avoid excessive recoil, when the gun was firing at a low elevation. see: http://homepage.tinet.ie/~nightingale/75ig.htm and: http://users.belgacom.net/artillery/artillerie/1930.html
Making movable AT guns would be just like making vehicles, but they'd probably behave strangely.
