Real men hate balance and play Forgotten Hope or XWW2. BG42, for those who don't know, is like a WWII version of Desert Combat. Everything is balanced and makes a halfassed attempt at being historically accurate.

...Ok, sure. But it does offer a different sort of play than one-shot-one-kill realism mods. (Not that I don't fire up FH or XWWII myself every now and again.) The focus on BG42 is a manifest of real armor, vehicles and weapons - there's really plenty to drive, fly and fire in the mod - while balancing them to provide a fluid and fun gameplay. To state that BG42 is a realism mod with the same objectives as FH and XWWII is really not fair. To me it was what BF:1942 should have been all along - a fluid and fun WWII gameplay with lots of vehicles and weapons accurately modeled. Its faster paced, IMO, than the realism mods (this is subjective of course!) and a single soldier can get enough accomplished to make a difference even when their team is not exactly playing as...well, a team. Note, though, things are in transition a bit and new balancing and gameplay feel are being explored with the BG42 on BF:V mod due out soon. Overall, BG42 does fill a niche in the mod world and doesn't compete toe-to-toe with the objective of being "true to life" insofar as gameplay goes. Its unfair, I think, to state that the weapons - and maps - aren't as accurate in feel as those in the realism mods.
