Taken from : http://www.aviapress.com/viewonekit.htm?MCS-003 Those aren't Germans posing on that Panzer! mcs003_3.jpg caption: Soviet tankers fought in captured enemy tanks from 18. Panzer-Division. The pictures show Pz.Kpfw. Ill and IV tanks. Western Front, 1941

I'm not saying the capture and use of enemy equipment in FH is right or wrong. I'm saying historically it did happen, and apparently often.

Yes but the ordinary grunts were not trained for using foreign vehicles. There were specialised teams.

Of course, but that would suggest the creation of a new FH player class "tanker" whose sole purpose in the game is just that. The operation of armored vehicles. This has been brought up and shot down many times. Like I said right or wrong in FH I don't really care. If one thinks it wrong to cap, drive and kill with an enemy tank, so be it, don't do it, or start your own server console messaging "stealing enemy armor will get you kicked" or something lame like that. It's just the statement that Tsuruchi Brian made in the opening of this post that I wholly disagree with. I am by no means flaming him, just disagreeing. Free Country!

so what do you do when all the enemies tanks are left over from when the base was first capped, and you're not an engineer?

now that i've fully read your post, you're clearly a masochist.

Masochist? meh. If not, then nevermind

Actually, soldiers often used any weapon or vehicle that was available, even enemy ones. Farley Mowat, a great Canadian writer and infantry Lieutenent in WW2, used a found (non-standard) weapon for most of the war.

Here's a few pics of enemy vehicles used by Canadian/British soldiers: rcaffw190.JPG FW 190 pugh36.jpg German halftrack I've also seen numerous pictures of soldier with enemy weapons, and enemy tanks and trucks re-painted with allied markings. From a game-play standpoint, not being able to use enemy vehicles is a huge disadvantage. Try playing Battle of the Bulge on XWW2 (which has this "you can't use enemy vehicles" rule in effect). If the Germans take the main American base, the vehicles spawn as Axis, and are useless to any American troops trying to re-take the base. All a Axis player has to do is jump into a spawned Tiger II and there's not a whole lot the Americans can do but die.

If you take out the ability to use all equipment, it defeats the whole idea of BF1942.

And both sides used whatever was avalible. Ever heard of a Pz747? It was the name given to German T34/85s. The Germans also used hundreds of T-34/76s.

If they could get their hands on it, they used it.

And an American did steal a FW190 after being shot down in WWII.

Elaborate, I would like to hear more about this, PM me please. Staying on topic, I think its a good/bad idea. I can agree with every argument. But for the sake of some gameplay, you just can't do that. The convert thing is a good idea, but yea...what if you aren't an engi?
