You didn't say where you are so I can't advise you on where to buy parts, but this is what you want.

Gigabyte GA-7N400 PRO, 1 Gb PC3200 DDR Athlon XP 3200+ (to tell you the truth the Athlon 2800+ is just as fast but you seem damn determined to spend money and 2800+ is not much faster than 2400+ anyway, apart from the FSB of 333Mhz) Geforce FX 5900 with 265Mb DDR Audigy2 Sound Card Nice case with 500W PSU (and plenty of drive bays) 2 X 80Gb SATA drives in RAID configuration

Mind you as Pvt_Zab said all you really need is a new vid card, get a GF FX5900 and it will feel like you got a new comp anyway

Mind you if you wait a few months you can dash out and get a brand spanking new Athlon64.

Have fun

Best place IMO is www.newegg.com I have had great success with them.

As for the best video card, that answer would be the ATI 9800 PRO. You nvidea fanboys might want to read this article ;) http://techreport.com/etc/2003q3/valve/index.x?pg=1 -good luck
