hey, I just got a new 17" moniter, but was saddened to find out that BF doest suppost resolutions of 1280x1024. I was wondering if one of you game people knew how to make it work. My moniter supports it, because im using it now, and my graphics card supports it, cause it is a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra, and is great. Does any one know how to get a 1280x1024 resolution in BF1942?

Follow this....Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Settings.....go into video default and change this line to look like this.....renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1 Should fix it,

My BF doesn't support it either, so I guess it's a problem with BF...

But there is a 1280 x 960 resolution. I doubt you'd notice any difference.

That is correct. There is no 1280x1024 option.

unfourtunatly i have already done the refresh rate thing, and the 1280x960 resolution does suck, it is better to use 1024x768, but it really sucks every resolution but 1280x1024 is on there.

I dont think anyone runs games at more than 1024x760 anyways. On a 17" monitor that is going to be some SMALL text.

Then think again.

by not being able to use the native resolutions to my moniter, the image quality is going to go way down, because everything in the game will have been enlarged, so it's like double the size of a pixle.

Well, i have a 19 inch monitor, wich is quitte common too but i still run games between 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 and that is because i hate it when i can't read the text anymore.

So, you need glasses will people say, but no my eyes are excellent. The monitor is 2 armlenghts away from me...

For a reason. Cathode Tube Ray monitors emit rontgen type radiation, up to 50 cm outside of the screen. That is the kind of radiation that can damage human cells. To protect you from it there is lead in the glass of the screen, but some radition gets through. That is dependend on the brand and model, obviously larger screens emit more radiation then small screens, wich is logical, the electron beamer is more powerfull. As it is now they cannot link CTR monitors to weird kinds of cancer like in the eyes or brain, so it obviously does not instantly kill you. But any human can only take so much radiation before something goes wrong, and CTR monitors have been scientificly proven to emit radiation on the same frequenty as rontgen radiation in the hospital does.

That is why you need to sit at least an armlenght from your CTR monitor ( or TV ) The frightning part of it everybody i know is pratically so close to their monitor their nose touches the screen. I guess time will tell it really was dangerous or not. Good thing LTF screens replace CTF screens more and more, no radiation from them, and the enviroment is better off too without the lead in the glass.

( Btw : a damaged cell isn't cancer, but it can lead to it )
