Yeah, that does look better. Looks more realistic and less like "blobs" of yellow flashing around.
If I remember correctly, Merciless already has something like that.
Fh won't have that big explosions for tankrounds, because of a little problem: LAG!!!
yeah MC's got something like that. However those shots show a column of dirt going straight up into a narrow column, that would only happen if you shot from straight above. Arced shots create a more diffuse cloud that falls faster, like MC's :P
And yeah big clouds of particles cause /mad/ lag.
Yeh, they had mad awsome dirt puffs in .5, but they took them out because of evil evil lag.
Strangely enough I didn't get any lag from the dirt puffs. I thought it was great..then they took them out :'(
DC has a neat explosion effect for it's .6 Sabot rounds, I think FH could make some new effects for theirs as well, not necessarily meaning laggy particles. Grenades would be mostly smoke, the arty shells would have the massive dirt, rockets and the like would have firey explosions...
i think the effect should be scaleable with the effect setting the graphic settings
we had even bigger and better looking exposion effects in our internal builds, we replaced them with lower detailed explosions ... becourse of the lag problem ...
even on hardcore PCs its not smooth enough ... and that was tested with like 12 players, on 64 player servers its probably unplayable, even for highend pcs
