We always used this line when dealing with senior ranks, to be firm and polite..."please don't confuse my rank with my authority" The number of times I'd wished I could photograph their faces, with the looks of confusion when that sank in!
God, yeah I had forgotten that line!
"This weapon is used in the Swedish Airforce when hunting birds near the runway." for some reason that cracks me up
i woulda thought that number 1 squad would be named after Oswald Boelke, being the 1st Ace of air combat and all
From the UK so haven't fired many but i have fired two rifles in France.A Springfield '03 and an old german WW1 Rifle. Mauser but not K98. It was the standard for the German army in WW1. If anyone can enlightened me i would be much abliged.
You fired a GEW. Still a Mauser but you're right not a K98. I believe they came in different lenghts and configurations though I'm not up on them
Did some time in the military, fired M16, M203, LAW(not exactly a gun but fun nonetheless), SAW and GPMG, which is the only WW2 era weapon i fired and is my fave as well.
Mauser Gehwer 1898 was the german ww1 rifle, it was longer than the k98 (k = Karbiner = Carbine ;))
Eh WWII era weapons... practically nothing... Ive fired a Colt .45 which was issued to my grand-dad in the Navy when he was in WWII. Fired a Luger too. Im not that great with pistols for some reason, but I make up for it with the skill in a rifle.
Shot .22 of course. Many different shotguns. .30-06, SKS, AK-47, AR-15, and a few others, nothing fancy really. Lotsa different pistols, but like I said I'm not as good with those so I enjoy them less. I had the most fun firing the AK47, when I just let it rip, that was good times.
Can't wait to fire a LAW!
http://www.opelblitz.net/~andy/g1.jpg My cutesy mini-14 and modified Weatherby (I replaced the barrel with one that takes Winchester .270 rounds -- much cheaper for hunting! http://www.opelblitz.net/~andy/g2.jpg Some .22 lever action POS I found, and my two babies (I'm sure everyone can identify them both) http://www.opelblitz.net/~andy/g4.jpg A nice shot of my 03A3. http://www.opelblitz.net/~andy/g5.jpg Used to be my father's, .357 Python. Of course, I've fired all of the above. :) In addition.. (friends' guns) M1 Carbine Sig-Sauer P229 (.40 SIG) Desert Eagle .50 AK-74 a few .35 rifles The most exciting ever though, was firing a live MG42. I'll dig up pictures of that if anyone's interested.
