I actually liked the way the Shiiden handles. You have to remember in real life the Zero was about 5,000lbs and a 940hp engine. No armor, no self sealing tanks, no armored glass. Its just a big acrobatic stuntplane with guns.
The later Shiden is almost 6400lbs and has a much larger engine and armor, and self sealing tanks, and armored glass. It will still handle good but it should not be as nimble as a Zero. Only plane that should as nimble as a Zero is a Ki-43 Hayabusa and that is not in game.
Only other DICE Jap plane I am familiar with is the Aichi D3A1 Val dive bomber and it should be very nimble as well but really slow.
It also seems that the FW190 is worse than the bf109,but it was built to combat the Spit.

actualy it was built to utilize the full potential of german radial engine production.
What UFO are you guys talking about?
Anyway, thanks for the info AceS.
If the 109 design ('36) and the 190 design ('39) were produced in practically the same quantity (109 slightly more), why is it that there are so little examples of the 190's in game?
The Me-109 was the choosen Luftwaffe fighter. The FW-190 just happened along and was decided to be too good to pass on. The Me-109 was mainstay of the Luftwaffe IIRC til 1944 when it was decided the FW-190 was better and efforts were made to decrease Me-109 and increase fw-190 production
Also IIRC there were 30,450 Me-109's built and just over 20,000 Fw-190's.
IIRC - If I Recall Correctly
Also IIRC there were 30,450 Me-109's built
There were over 33,000, and only second to the IL-2 with something like 36,000 built :nodding:
Tim nice but dimThere were over 33,000, and only second to the IL-2 with something like 36,000 built :nodding:
I have seen figures ranging from 30,000 to 38,000. 33,000 is good.
