"BFArmory programming team has released their latest version of their Weapons Generator v3.0. This little wonder allows for a quick and easy way to generate weapons. This is a must download for any modder. New in this version" -GUI interface -SAVE/OPEN features -Projectile Generator -Greater control over custom features -GUI Geometries editor

http://www.fileplanet.com/dl.aspx?/planetbattlefield/bfarmory/bfawg3.0.zip (beep beep, warning FilePlanet link) I wonder if this will actually work, a GUI interface should beat doing it by hand. edit: It comes with a animation editor too, even though it says "There have been delays, but rest assured, it is coming." perhaps it was put in by mistake?

I would rather do it by hand. Might take a few seconds longer, but you will know that you did it correctly, and come on, weapons are a snap to code.

I find myself wondering why is it hard to do first person weapon animations? I see some right wank mods on other engines that have proper anims, yet none of the bf mods bar silent have any new ones. :/

Battlefield isn't as friendly to modding as is Half Life or Unreal Tournament. It's not impossible but it's not easy either.

I never quite understood about vehicles though. Are vehicles easier? There seems to be a lot more new vehicle than player animations...

The vehicle animations are just tweaked values of existing animations. Most tanks are going to look like tanks when they move so there's not a lot of need for completely new animations. They'll consist of a turret or 2 (rotation controlled by user so there's no need for animations there) and the tracks and wheels, which are given new positions and/or sensitivity and speed settings but are just Sherman tanks that have been recoded. This works for almost all tanks, so it never really comes up in discussion.

The first person animations need to be made using very-difficult-to-use-tools at this point. I'm sure once Rexman gets some time, a good tool will come out for first person anims and sooner or later someone will tell us how to export anims from 3dmax or Milkshape to BF and that will solve everything.
