I have no programming skills at all so there's no attack in that question. Until I get cable modem [not a high priority right now] I'm playing SP. What involved in effort and time to make SP available at least on the original maps where there's no CTD? It is depressing to check daily to see if there's any news especially when I'm hearing rave reviews of FH. Thanks, GI

I'm not sure how much fun SP would be in the FH world. Those bots in vanilla never miss, and it's much easier to get killed in FH.

You don't have to have broadband to play games online. A decent 56k dialup connection, correctly configured, will give sufficient performance for games. If you aren't able to play with your dialup connection, you either have a bad quality modem, a bad quality phone line, or incorrect settings. You can probably fix them and be able to play just fine, though.

For the record, I play online (mostly on Wolf) over a 56k dialup with average pings of around 30. It's fairly reliable, too.

Pings of 30 with a modem are impressive!! I get around that with 300k cable Iif the server's near) - Do you live in the house between the building housing the Wolf Server and your telephone Co? :cool:

I could copy that file in but I was hoping to get an answer from one of the developers. Wasn't aware you play at 56k. I don't know if my connectivity would make the gravy though. Some days great other days the pits. BF for me is little breaktime in the middle of the week. I may have to switch to DC just for playing. Modern military doesn't hold my interest like WWII does. I'm starting to feel like the guy who makes 30k a year, drives a Ford Escort and hangs out on the lambergini BB with no hopes of driving one.

its not only a matter of time (its ALSO a reason but not the biggest one) - its simply not possible to do good bot support for fh without the source code

we have many new features in fh, which the bots dont know - and you cant teach them without the source code - in fact most bots would just stay around and do nothing or everything wrong

few examples: kits, bots would not collect kits --> so the big problem here are the pilot kits ... bots would jump without a pilot kit and simply die

deployable stuff, omaha beach bunker doors, and so on ... if you count all this features you easyly find out that good bot support is impossible for FH without looseing all the features that make FH special - and thats something we dont want

Getting the bots to play FH like humans do is, as Master Minder says, likely to be impossible without the complete source to BF1942.

Getting the bots to play FH enough to enjoy playing against them is alot easier and nearer being a reality :)
