OK, actually I don't have BF1942, I play it at my friend's place. So finally I got hold my own copy. So here's the problem. A VERY weird problem. I got two computers, and for whatever reason, the game refuses to install on one of the computers, when the installation hits 100%, an error comes up:" Specified component cannot be found in the media. An attempt was made to access a file that does not exist in the media." or something like that, and after that everything that was installed will be deleted. But strangely, this error does NOT come up on the other computer I have, it installed on that computer with no errors whatsoever. Why is this?

Make sure that the uninstall doesnt leave anything behind. Like an install folders or something. Defrag and try again. Preferably in another ROM.

Also does it state what the component is that is missing?

THen I would try another ROm in the same computer. OR switch out the Rom from the one that works to the one that doesnt.

Sounds like a media read error to me.

Bad disc or ROM.
