I just completed a beta version of a new game type called "Search and Destroy". This is an objective based game type that's designed for smaller groups of people -- say, 6 to 16 max. The objective is to destroy your enemy's three strategic objectives: The UAV trailer, Radar station and the Artillery gun. The first team to accomplish this or to deplete their enemy's tickets is the winner.

By changing a variable this game type can also be tweaked to allow an attack and defend mode, where one team must destroy their enemy's objectives and the other team must defend them until their enemy's tickets are depleted. In this case the attackers have far fewer tickets than the defenders.

The Objectives can be repaired by an engineer, but must be fully repaired before they are counted as having been "recovered". Also, the two main bases are non-capturable, but all the other bases are neutral, and so can be taken over and used as a launch point for assaulting the enemy base, or to gain access to vehicles.

This game mode is currently only for the Special Forces expansion, but once testing is complete I'll create a version for vanilla BF2.

I haven't tested Search and Destroy in the real world yet, because I don't personally own a server. I intend to test it in a LAN environment this week, but I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in trying it out.

If you're interested, please email me at mendake_ddude@yahoo.com, or respond here with your email address, and I'll send you the game mode file. It has not yet been put into the format of a proper mod, so for now it will replace the game mode python script. I intend to create a proper mod out of it after testing.

I'm mainly looking for bugs and balancing issues. It's difficult to know how balanced this game type will be, so any input would be greatly appreciated. If you do have input, please let me know how many people were in the game during the testing.

Thank you for your help. I hope you enjoy this game type, or at least that you eventually do once it's been tweaked.

Your a noobie. If you aren't listed on the main site I don't trust you. Please get listed and I may consider downloading.

Yeah, not sure what you mean by "main site" either, but if you mean that you're expecting an annoucement on the battlefield files main page then the reason I haven't done this is because I'd rather test it first.

But if you need proof that I'm not some idiot trying to send a virus around, you'll find my name listed as a contributor to the AAS game type for BF2:

http://landot.org:8080/landot/aas/

I'm also creator of the Call of Duty game type called "Attack and Defend", which is apparently quite popular on clan servers and has servers running it full time:

Hmm... I never heard of that game type (at least I don't remember. Can you tell me some more about it? I will download your game once is it is in public beta and has been around a bit, as long as it comes with an uninstall option (because I like to play ranked, no offense man).

Which gametype are you referring to? The AAS one for BF2, right? If so that's not mine, but I'm a contributor to the product. You can download it at the link above.

Do you have a mod team? Or are you an independent programmer? Do you have any experince with making objects for use in a game?

I have a project that me and littlebond are working on, but we need to make objects for it and we don't have the knowlege on how to do it. I can map, however. If you know how please give me your e-mail so I can update you on what the project is and add you into the list of intresed people, which so far includes me and littlebond.

No, sorry, I'm not familiar with how to make objects for the game. I did a little 3D work at one point, but I'm by no means proficient. I'm a just a professional programmer who likes to make game modes for my buddies and I to play in small teams.

Hey MenDake,

I sent you a PM regarding the AAS mod, wondering if you can assist with a question I have there?
