Is there a way to get the MP7 into Vanilla BF2 WITHOUT having the SF expansion (I plan to get SF soon, but I wanna try out the MP7)?

Why not? It's not illegal because they already included the files with the patch. You'd have to do some modding of the kit files that can be found in the Object_client/server(I forget which one).ZIP. It's not that hard if know what you're doing.

Well, can you tell me how to get the MP7 assigned to the Special Forces (US) kit?

I tried to do a little work on it today, I changed some stuff around, but the SF guy still had an M4.

I have NEVER modded/coded ANY game before, so I have no idea how to do this.

PS: I have the 1.3 patch.

Alright I assume you know how to work with .ZIP files on this one. 1. go to - .../Battlefield2/mods/bf2 and make a backup of "Objects_client.ZIP" (it's good to make a backup, and then another copy to mod off of, and leave the one in the folder alone) 2. Extract the "kits" and "weapons" folders. 3. open the "kits" folder and then the "US" sub folder. Open the "US_specops.CON" file with note pad (be sure to uncheck the "read only" box in the file properties). 4. Leave that open for now, and check the "weapons" folder for the folder with "ukrif_MP7" or something similar for the title (not sure exactly what it's called because I don't have the patch), and keep that folder name handy. 5. Go back to the .CON file, and go to the first line that reads "rem -------------------------------------". between those two lines are the items in the kit. The second last item should read "ObjectTemplate.addTemplate USRIF_M4". Replace the "USRIF_M4" part with the name of the MP7 folder, and SAVE. 6. Re-pack the "kits" folder in the .ZIP file. 7. Put the .ZIP file back into .../Battlefield2/mods/bf2 TADAAA!!!! You've just made your first mod. Remember to keep the backup in a safe place on your hard drive, and if you run into problems, just stick that back into the mod folder. Also remember to ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR PREVIOUS MOD BEFORE YOU CHANGE IT OR YOU WILL DIG YOURSELF A HOLE OF FRUSTRATION! (I'm not yelling, I'm just highlighting) BTW what episode is your sig quote from? I'm a huge fan myself, but I don't remember that quote.

Ah, I see what I was doing wrong. I didn't uncheck the 'Read Only' properties, nor did I make a second copy of the zipped Objects_client folder.

I'll try this out on Friday.

One last question: When I am done with my copy of the 'Objects_client' folder, I should take out the original 'Objects_client' and put in the copy of 'Objects_client', right?

BTW what episode is your sig quote from? I'm a huge fan myself, but I don't remember that quote.

The episode 'Goodbye, Farewell and Amen', AKA the final episode.

I actually cried when the final episode was over.

Also, how do I re-pack the 'Kits' folder into the .zip file?

EDIT: Nevermind. I just read a Total Battlefield 2 forum topic on how to re-pack.

Right click > send to compressed zipped folder.

AcE;3846919Right click > send to compressed zipped folder.

That kinda sends it into it's OWN .zip file.

I read that all I have to do is drag the Kits folder back into the Objects_client.sip file, and that automatically re-packs it.
