They said they would be released on the same day as the full game, not that they would ship with the game.

Community Update - 6/22/05

Mod Tool Update As stated late last week, EA and DICE hoped to be able to release the first Beta version of the Battlefield 2 Editor today to all end users. Due to some unresolved issues, this will not happen. Our goal is now to make sure that the Open Beta Editor is ready for release by the end of June. Like the Battlefield 2 player community, we cannot wait to witness the burst of creativity that Mod teams unleash with these tools once we set them loose. Stay tuned to this space for more news as we get closer to our Release Candidate

You have to buy them. I also heard that you have to pay for each mod you play, and it all goes to EA so they can make another Oddworld game.

Ha funny however the Oddworld series is now officially dead as the dev team are off to concentrate on TV and movie animation. Anyway, anybody know how similar to the BFV tools the editor it is if at all?

to my understanding their mapping program will be a mix of BC and ED42. Also you just gotta LOVE how they abolished .rfa's, and replaced with zip's! thats right, no more repacking cause winrfa or gmake mucked up your files. all the formats now are more "modder friendly", and will even give new modding teams to the bf series more of a fighting chance, and us veterans will simply PWN as usual :)

I hope it's not too long before the tools come out. I've been waiting to start three new maps that I thought up. I'll have to check in every day until there out. By the way, Battlefield 2 is AWSOME!!
