I've downloaded the new BF2 patch (twice) and each any every time I try to make the thing install it tells me it can't find the BF2 installation folder.

It tells me right after I open the .exe and choose my language, after going through some sort of start-up loading bar.

Help would be appreciated, I can't connect to servers without this patch : /

For some reason, I CTD every time I try on non-patched servers, even though I haven't patched yet. Once I install it it will stop being a problem.... help please.

WOuld I only have to try to install 1.12? Or would I have to start off with a lower patch?

well .. as it sits .. They are saying that the 1.12 patch can "go over " the 1.03. But i haven't seen much more on it. If you want to play guinee pig for us. Try it without and try it with. :D ;) good luck i am rooting for you .

Airborne_SniperI've downloaded the new BF2 patch (twice) and each any every time I try to make the thing install it tells me it can't find the BF2 installation folder.

The location of the BF2 folder is stored in the registry. If you have changed the drive letters of your computer, or re-installed windows on C but left the game on D drive and etc you can get this issue. You CAN get around it by editing the registry, but for your average user re-installing is the best way to go, so do as others have advised and re-install followed by the patch.

I've done none of the above, I've never been in my comp's registry, and the journey I just made to there now (I didn't touch anything, I swear) was confusing. I just wanted to see if I could see if the file labeled "Install" was even there, but I couldn't find the where ANY installed programs' registry files were, much less where BF2s folder was.

Any help?

PS: I can't uninstall now either, and its not installshield's fault (I've had problems with it before) because I just tried to install Burn4Free to see if it would install, and it did. I try to uninstall BF2 and I get "Choose your language," then the green-backed uninstall screen for 1/8th of second, then CTD.

Then something else has screwed your registry keys! I have attached a pic of what the install dir information should look like, but I can't give you an exact path cause I am using WinXP 64, which is different from standard Win XP.

If it is screwed you may be able to edit it to point at the correct folders, otherwise remove all the references to BF2, battlefield 2 etc in the registry, delete the game files from the computer and re-install.
