When i play bf2, my norton keeps bugging out with trojan warnings while the server list is refreshing (on bf2 of course) even though i have it in my exclusions list. it pops up 10-20 times during this process, minimizing the game each time, and its really annoying. the only way to stop that is go into options and disable trojan intrusion protection, which im not to keen on. (turning off autoprotect doesnt do a thing) as for the other problem. I am in a clan, which means i need to use teamspeak, a lot. But, whenever i play bf2, my microphone seems to crap out. My clanmates describe it as a horrible loud static type sound. I know my microphone isnt the problem, since it ONLY happens while playing bf2. sometimes i can go for about a half hour playing before it happens, but it always does before 3 rounds are up. I think it usually happens while loading the next map or in between rounds. sometimes if i get a lot of lag it happens too. The only thing that annoys me about this is i have to minimize the game and restart teamspeak, otherwise i cant talk. This takes a long time when your loaded into a map, and risks the game freezing or losing connection. I am on a slightly slow dsl line (around 160-180 kbps download tops, although speed tests say otherwise) so im thinking there might not be enough bandwith for both. although i can still hear everyone almost perfectly. any help would be greatly appreciated. sorry for the humongous post, i felt more detail could help lol.

For the first... Yes, Norton is a bastard when it comes to online games. Before playing BF2, or any game with a browser for that fact, turn Norton Auto-protect off until system restart. (Right click the icon in your system tray and select turn of Auto-Protect and set it till system restart) Have no idea about the mic, possibly something to do with having mic chat ingame, I don't really have any idea.

I get that issue with nortons but only if the new patch is applied. Otherwise nortons only asked once as usual. as for your MIC problem if your going to use TEAMSPEAK and not the built in VOIP make sure it is disabled in your BF2 options. You may have a conflict with two programs wanting to control the voice.

Hmmm, interesting about the issue with Norton's. I haven't had this happen with Norton's so far, with either the original version of the game or the patched version. What version of Norton's are you guys running? I'm running Norton's SystemWorks and Personal Firewall 2005. I leave the Anti-Virus Auto-Protect and the Firewall enabled with no problems. The only thing I have disabled is the software's scheduled automatic av scans, checking for updates, and updating itself.

He has the Norton Internet Security version, the biggest piece of humbug ever foisted on the gullible buying public! It's a bloated, resource hungry, machine humbling piece of junk that WILL pop up multiple warnings for just about anything.

Remove it, get AVG Anti-virus and Spyware Blaster and use the windows firewall and a NAT router. Oh yes, your TS is crapping out because you don't have enough upstream bandwidth for BF2 and the TS client, try reducing the sound quality in TS, and oh yes, and get a better ISP.

Good luck.

Same here, Norton is only troubling me after the patch. I Disable the trojan settings, and hope for the best. Whats more a Fun-killer is the High-Ping isue after the patch. Unbelievable that this happens in both the patches.

I never had a problem with Norton poping up at all with the orininal version. As soon as I installed the patch (first 1.01 then 1.02) It pops up and minimises the game same as the other guy (over 10 times) then it will finaly stop untill I turn off the game and start it up again.

yea if i disable the trojan warnings the problem stops. disabling auto protect doesnt do anything. as for teamspeak, i figured it was a bandwith problem. unfortunately the dsl i have now is the bottom of the line package and is about all i can afford. thanks for trying to help anyway.
