I assume you updated all your sound, video and motherboard drivers after installing windows? What sort of monitor are you using?

Well, errrr, no :D I using the very same drivers as before, and my monitor driver, well, I made it by myself :D Anyway, it's a Eizo F520 - a nice crisp, even older 17", suxxka. Works pretty well for me, 1024x768 at 100Hz w/o a glitch.

Now all I get is the black screen and silent exit back to win from BF2... :( Damn, that suxx.

BUt you were running Win XP before, now you are running Win 2000 you should be using Win 2000 drivers. Is that monitor CRT of LCD?

No, I never run WinXP on my main machine, God forbid that!

I was running Win2k SP3 before. It is a CRT monitor. Old one, indeed, but still very nice picture :p

Basically, I tried almost everything now - I think that the question should be narrowed to simple thing - did ANYONE reinstalled winblows and then run the BF2 w/o reinstalling it? And it it did not work, will reinstall fix it?

IMHO BF2 seems to be to be too much checking everything and I maybe screwed the ability to run BF2 on this windows copy for good, when I tried to run it w/o reinstall, as Im used to every (!) (except one stupid dictionary and PowerDVD) programs I using...!

PS. SP2 is my target (I will do even hardcore optimalization using nLite and then manualy optimizing services and stuff) because its resources requirments are smallest and therefore logically BF2 will run nicest on it :)

Problem solved in a amazingly simple way. Just run the BF2VoiceSetup.exe file, play with the sliders a little (w/o it don't work!) and click on save. Enjoy the crash that come (it happen for me even when I have my mic and my webcam with mic installed properly in Win2k SP3 - anyone got this working, anyway?) and then enjoy Battlefiels. It will work now

Unbelievable. Going to confirm this behaviour once again with fresh v1.00 ! ;)

Glad you got it fixed, wonder if it's a Win 2000 only problem, I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere.

Well, I tried to determine it for v1.00 and Im again stuck with notworking BF2 at all. Dunno, now it did not helping to run/crash the BF2VoiceSetup.exe :(

I wonder if there is someone, who did not have a problem with the constantly crashing BF2VoiceSetup.exe file very much, because it do it all the time for me, dunno why???

Bottom line - I slowly starting to dislike the game. The game itself aren't back, but the issues around it are sort of overhelming...

Good news. After restart it works. So, it go like this: After install, restart as required, then run BF2VoiceSetup.exe, enjoy crash, restart - and now will BF 2 run!

Laughable at best, DICE and EA ... shame, shame shame on them... :(

Since Win 2000 isn't a supported OS it may just be a problem with Win 2000 and your audio card drivers which was never tested or fixed, it may not affect XP users even if they have the same audio card.

Well, it is not supported, just not tested and it is IMHO pretty dumb move, since just moving from Win2k SP3 to SP2 + finetuning it - give me about 10% frame boost (!) and NO (!) swapping anymore (500MB swapfile in win, 1024MB ram and 256MB gfx card ram) - so Im very much happy with the Win2k SP2 - performace, no problems, no bloatware like the XP crap - outstanding OS :D

EA and DICE should be stoned to death for not supporting w2k. Not everyone are happy to upgrate to 2G of ram, is he want not jerking XP playing of BF2. Decent downgrade of OS do this for me! :)

PS. the drivers for SB Audigy2zs are exactly the same for XP and for W2k. Same for nVidia drivers. In fact, both systems are indiferent - with their cores. The bloatware added to XP is the only difference and the only one reason why I like W2k way much over XP. Besides, there are even more serious troubles with XP, I write some of them there: http://trodas.wz.cz/index.php?act=ST&f=14&t=153 ...so if you bother to read and view the images, you will know why I never downgrade to such a "system" :(
