Looks like a good option if I can't get the install discs to work. Thanks. If I get this working, I'll be sure to find you in an MP game so you can shoot me all you want. :cya:

In the FH2 Mod forums we've noticed that there are some issues when using the download version of BF2. Just wanted to say this because it might be important if you are into BF2 mods.

Thanks for the note. I guess I'll be getting a new copy of it then.

If you are having a Disk related issue, have you checked the disks for scratches ? Even minute ones can make an issue like this.

If you can't make an image of the disk for install, that is a good indication there could be an issue with the disk itself. Most games now have protections against the Imaging effects... Not to mention if the game you are installing even thinks you are running a virtual drive, it will give you a security mod 700 error. In which case you will have to edit your registry to make it work. Ewwwww.

Well I've inspected the disc several times and I thought it would be passable. Now I'm not so sure. There are little "dots" on the second and first disc and minor circular scratches that you can see at the right angle on the second disc. You know what? You're probably right and this may be why the installation won't get past the second disc. I guess shipping was a little bumpy or something. Hopefully, I can switch out this copy for a new one tomorrow now that I have a good enough reason. I'm getting scared when it comes to changing the registries. Thanks for the help.

♫ Ceeeeee-le-brate good times, come on! ♫ I swapped my copy of BF2 and got a new one. It installed with no errors whatsoever, aside from the first disc screaming in my drive due to all the write-protection but do I care? Not one bit. I finally installed it. :D I guess now, all I need is the patch so sorry to bug you one more time but here goes. I've been looking at the EA site for patches and it looks like the 1.41 is the latest but I heard from some other people that it's also a beta. So...which one are you guys currently running? Thank you very much in advance.

1.41 is the latest full patch for BF2, maybe some call it a beta version because it still has some bugs. http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/BF2/1.41/BF2_Patch_1.41.exe

Several weeks ago EA announced that they are working on another patch for BF2 (v1.5?), but since then they gave away no further info.

Yeah no kidding. I'm going to try and make a backup of all my CDs now before they get scratched. I really didn't think something so little could do so much. Well, I guess I'll be getting the 1.41 patch now. Thanks guys.
