When I click to connect to a server in the multiplayer menu in Battlefield 2 after installing the patch 1.12, it freezes on the joining game box...The game worked before the patch and I was wondering if maybe someone else had this problem or knows how to fix it.:bawl:

Try the search button next time please, this has been posted before, but here's your solution. When you upgrade to the 1.12 patch NIS Firewall recognises the game as a new program and you have to manually allow it access to the internet. AK :smokin:

hey moderator, before you make assumptions, its not a problem with norton IS, I disabled it and it still freezes to the point where i have to restart to get out. I have no idea what the problem is, it worked before patch and single player still works.

Ummm before telling the Moderator not to assume. How about you not assume either. From the information you gave, that was his findings. You never said you disabled it. you didn't say what you run it with or without.... So when you tell us not to assume, you yourself shouldn't assume we know what you do.

And the moderator has a name. You should show a little respect and use it. It isn't hard to read, nor to hightlight and copy ...

WarHawk427hey moderator, before you make assumptions, its not a problem with norton IS, I disabled it and it still freezes to the point where i have to restart to get out. I have no idea what the problem is, it worked before patch and single player still works.

And before jumping to conclusions, I didn't say disable it, I said to manually allow it as a process to access the internet. Personally I think NIS is a piece of crap software, but if you want to use it then go ahead, but quite often disabling NIS doesn't shut all NIS processes and they often still cause problems. The ONLY way to be sure that NIS isn't causing problems is to either specifically allow the process or to uninstall it. If I suggest a solution, then you do something completely different to what I suggest, don't come back and say my solution didn't work, you don't know whether it works or not because you haven't actually tried it!

So either uninstall NIS or manually allow BF2 as a process to access the internet. Once you have done that, if it still doesn't work, then we will look at different solutions, but I have had so many problems with NIS and networking the very first thing I do is uninstall it. 9 times out of 10 the problem magically vanishes.

If SP works then there is likely nothing wrong with the game, it appears to freeze because the networking part of the BF2 is waiting for a response from the remote server. The inbound server port for BF2 is blocked but the outbound port is open, so it sends and waits because the program assumes if the outbound port is open the the inbound port is also.
