Hello, I am new to BF2 and I am really interested in this game. I bought the Deluxe Edition today and I just put it in. The installation completed and I started up BF2. The screen goes black like it's loading, then goes back to the desktop:bawl:. THeres not even a trace of the game starting:eek:. I checked my specs and the ONLY problem is that I have 64 mb video card memory and it says I need like 128 mb. So Is there ANY way to get around this without me having to buy a new card or somthing? THank you so much.

Um, if it's in the minimum requirements, I don't think there is any other way than to get a better graphics card. But before you go and by another one, see what other people have to say, just in case I'm wrong.

Post the rest of your specs. It is likely (even if they appear to meet the back-of-the-box requirements) that your whole PC is crap considering the graphics card.

The specs for the game are quite particular, it doesnt just say 128Mb Vid card.

For instance you have a nVidia Geforce MX400 vid card according to a previous post.

These are the cards supported by the game;

Video Cards Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards: Radeon X700 (PCIe) Radeon X600 (PCIe) GeForce 6600 (PCIe) GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe) GeForce 5800 Series (AGP) ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition ATI Radeon X800 PRO ATI Radeon 9800 Series ATI Radeon 9600 Series ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX) ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series ATI Radeon 8500 Series ATI Radeon X300 Series NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT NVIDIA GeForce 6800 NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Series NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Series NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 Series

And any cards in the series released after the release of the game. You are so far off that requirement that it is not even worth considering, apart from the fact that it would not play very well on a system with 256Mb of ram. The MX400 is based on the GF2 GPU core, so there was GF3, GF4, then the FX5000 series.

You could try upgrading, but seriously, modern games have passed your computer by, try playing older games or upgrade your computer, the only two options I am afraid.

I run BF2 with the Geforce FX5700LE 256mb and I can go at 1024x (whatever res goes with that number) and I have to put most things on low cuz my processor is only a 2.4ghz. Currently combing ebay for a 3.06ghz P4. Your 64mb trying to run this game is like a pinto trying to pull a yacht, its possible, but it will take forever and probably destroy the pinto in the process. Like someone else said, you might have to get a completely new system if your processor is slower than the recommended. If CPU is ok, then go with the best graphics card you can afford, it will make up for it if you want any newer games.
