I installed the RoK mod yesterday but couldn't get it to work. Then, when I tried to play BF2 it wouldn't load up at all. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling three times already. When I do that I can start the game once, but when I quit it I get two error sounds. Nothing shows up and I try to run BF2 again. The first image shows up like it's starting BF2, but then the whole thing stops. I just don't understand it. Any pointers?

Yes, un-install, delete the game folders including the folder in My Documents, clear and references to BF2 out of the regisrty, re-install.

I did all that, and I'm still having the problem. I can run BF2 just fine, but if I quit it I get the double error sound and then BF2 can't run. However, if I pop the CD in and out I can run it again. Could it be a problem with my drive reading the CD? I don't have problems like this for other games like BF1942

Other games .... are not this game. You could have scratched the cd? Did you check the requirements of the mod ? Is it a single player mod ? if it is are you trying to run it in Mp ?

CD isn't scratched, it's a MP mod. I can play any part of BF2 fine the first time, even mods. It's after I quit it and later want to restart BF2. When I quit it the first time I get the error sounds, but everything seems to have closed down ok. If I try to restart BF2 or the RoK mod (which works perfectly) then it seems like the BF2.exe just can't execute fully. I pop the CD in and out and the whole thing works like normal, for one time only. It's not so troublesome that I can't live with it, but I still would like to know what's going on if anyone has any ideas.

Hmm, I suspect an issue with the copy protection used on the CD. Also when you exit BF2 next time can you check to make sure the process has completely shut down?
