here is what I did: I start up the game. I go to manage account. I click create new account. I agree to the policys. I type in my account info. I click "create account info". Then 1 second later it says "You have failed to connect. please check your network connection(s) and try again". I disabled norton. I dont have a firewall and Im doing the exact same thing when I registered my BF2 demo where it worked. I get the same error message when I got to "retrieve lost account" too.

You can also reuse the same account you made for the demo. You just click on "retrieve account". Not sure if that'll work in your situation, but worth a try.

"You have failed to connect" is probably a port issue on your router, you many have to set the router to allow certain ports through for BF2, the demo probably used different ports to avoid conflict. Once you have done that you should be able to retrieve your old account info from the demo version, it worked fine for me.

There is a list of required ports on the EA help site, exactly how you do it depends very much on your router, you shoud have instructions on how to set up port forwarding in your manual. Also check your router for firewall settings, some have built in firewalls.

I forward the ports EA listed and none worked. Also that site didn't have BF2 listed yet. Also the they are using the old linksys site setup. So it is impossible to know what they want you to do.
