When ever I try to join a server before it goes to the map loading screen it says my CD key is not valid. I've tried reinstalling, I tried a server before I did the patch and it worked. Is there a place in the directory that I can edit the CD key or something? maybe it is ressetting, or does anyone have any other ideas?

Okay, The same thing happened to me here is what i did; I sended a mail To EA Support, Told them about my problem which was the same as yours. They sended me i file i had to put in my BF2 File Map. I opened my BF2, and It stopped saying " CD key not valid" So that's what you do, it was what i did, try it.

Okay, this helped me: If you have Battlefield 2

  1. Click Start.
  2. Go to Run.
  3. Type regedit and hit OK button.
  4. Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  5. Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
  6. Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
  7. Double click on EA Games folder.
  8. Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
  9. Double click on ergc folder.
  10. Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
  11. Right click on it and select Modify.
  12. Type in x9392 and then your CD key.

note: don’t include hyphens.

Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here) If you have Battlefield 2: Special Forces

  12. Type in x9392 and then your Battlefield 2 CD key.

note: don’t include hyphens. Double click on Battlefield 2 Special Forces folder. Double click on ergc folder. Data displayed will probably have x9392 only. Right click on it and select Modify. Type in x9392 and then your Battlefield 2 CD key. note: don’t include hyphens. note: do not use your Battlefield 2: Special Forces CD key.Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)

Well if your cd key is 1111-2222-3333-4444-5555

  1. Type in x9392 and then your CD key.

note: don’t include hyphens.

Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here) So it will be x939211112222333344445555

Well, I had did what Dermus wrote, and it did not work. On top of that I cant even join BF2 vanilla servers, coz they say my cd-key is invalid, so dont try this shit.
