Go into my computer>right click on the Cd w/the BF2 cd in it>select 'explore'> find the BF2 exe and launch it game.

See if there is any updated firmware for the DVD drive on the manufacturers website, the current firmware may not be compatible with the game copy protection.

Is this a copy of your game or is it HIS copy of the game? Be honest ...

ide error on the motherboard then i would think... set the dvd rom up as a slave on the same ide cable as your main hard drive and see if it works.

Barrett.50 also this problem wasen't always the case after a windows re-install this error happend on Gun and BF2.

Possibly a software conflict, some DVD ripping and burning software will cause this issue, if you have any such software running at startup (like Nero Incd, DragtoDisk etc) disable it and try again.
